So sad that this has happened and my heart goes out to the parents. I would be devastated if something like this happened. A tragic accident.

My only other thought would be why was he left unattended to just wander about in a restaurant?

My link says he was just wondering. Nothing about the proximity of the parents so may not have been unattended.

I wonder what pressure is required to stop the rotation? Obviously more than enough to cause catastrophic head and brain bamage.
Tragic accident .
I have never been to this place, but surely there has to be some kind of fail-safe mechanism in place ?
Apparently, the place moves less than one inch a minute, so how was the child out of site of the parents for long enough to be trapped ?
Sadly these things happen. I remember a local case over 40 years ago where a 10 year old boy was merrily swinging on a park gate when the gate suddenly became detached from its hinges and crushed him to death.
The tragic truth is that small children prove every day they can get into spaces you wouldn't dream of - truly awful for all.
My earlier question still stands....if it was this easy for a child to get caught, why did some fail-safe mechanism not come into action ?

If its as easy as this, then its wonder it hasn't happened before.
I don't know all the technical details but the rotation stopped but the catastrophic damage had been done.
