better answer, why would any woman want to be a muslim as he whole male dominted construct is skewed against woman and young girls.
as far iv seen and read about islam, there is nothing in it for women to feel good about.

I would guess that the greater proportion of Muslim women have no say ( without 'retribution' , in the matter ) , if they are born into that culture.

It's different and I would also wonder the same, if you freely , without threat really choose to convert to Islam

I would not be at all surprised if hardline Muslims believed it was acceptable to beat their wives for perceived transgressions.

However, it is hopelessly naive to think that the majority of Muslims who are themselves faithful, share this view.

Just like you can honestly believe in the teachings of the Bible without agreeing with some of its more extreme edicts.

The Daily Mail. The Daily Mail!

What a rag. What garbage they manage to rake up. What prejudice-reinforcing drivel aimed at the likes of talbot, naomi, anoldgit, mafbog, and all the rest of them.

I don't get my news about the treatment of women within Islam from the mail ... I get from actual Muslim or ex Muslim women.

I would rather listen to what they have to say than a silly little self appointed saint on here.

On the other side of the coin, there are Christian sects that are not much more advanced in their attitudes towards women...as they need to learn their place

I haven't replied on this thread but have read all the replies.

The main reason being, I couldn't comment on behalf of 'all' of any group of people even if I were one of their number.

pasta, is that link genuine? It doesn't matter where I click on it, it just returns to the biblical gender page.
