My husband said tonight that Prokofiev’s ‘Dance of the Knights’ from Romeo & Juliet is, in his opinion, a perfect piece of music. Stirring, he said; enough to encourage one to fight for one’s country, he said. Got say for me it’s slightly unsettling, but there you are.

My choice would be Puccini’s ‘'Che gelida manina', from La Boheme. Goosebump central! I weep buckets every time I hear it – at live performances too – the last time at the wonderful ‘wedding cake’ of a venue that is Prague Opera House - although on that occasion I might be justified in holding the superb gin & tonic served there responsible.. ;o)

Another is Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’. I can party all by myself to that!!

Prokofiev didn't work. It doesn't work for me either, but I'll try again.

Oops. Still not working. I'll try another.

Samuel Barbers Adagio , transcends me to who knows where.
Agree about 'Che gelida manina', Naomi. Seen La Boheme many times in many productions, but the most beautiful version is, I believe, by Giuseppe di Stefano, so lyrical and heartfelt. Here, listen:
You've got me going now, naomi! If you want some more goosebumps, here's Renee Fleming singing 'Im Abendrot' from Richard Strauss's Four Last Songs and the other three are just as gorgeous. And don't get me started on the final trio from Der Rosenkavalier......

'Summertime', Ella & Louis. Whether or not it will work when I post it here remains to be seen.
