I agree with the No Smoking bit. A tenant I had burned a whole cigarette out on an antique table in my flat, although aware of the No Smoking agreement.
I think he's bang on, he has a right to optimise income by letting to those most likely to pay then rent. I bet he's full to the brim and has a waiting list of people wanting to rent from a landlord that won't move low lives in next door. If I wanted to rent in Kent I'd be bashing his door down.

i thought that the idea of no blacks, Irish, dogs went out years ago, with legislation to boot. He is breaking the law from what i can see. I posted a question the other day, which it might be worth a look at, mamy has copied it on the first page.
Reading through that, it seems that he doesn't really like anyone !!

To save those commenting on the 'No Plumbers' bit fro m actually having to read a link.

///He's even banned plumbers from renting out his properties as he believes they overcharge him while carrying out simple repairs and adding extra jobs to the list///

Britain's biggest buy to let landlord 'bans "coloured" tenants in racist rant to lettings agent because he claims they make his homes smell of curry'

its in the heading and further on in the piece.
That's not on the list though, emmie.

//In an email, which was leaked, he reportedly wrote: 'No coloured people because of the curry smell at the end of the tenancy.'//

So why not print the 'leaked email'?

In a leaked e-mail it was revealed the emmie from the popular Q&A site Answerbank is actually the Queen of England.

not sure understand your last post.
Emmie: "TTT thought that the idea of no blacks, Irish, dogs went out years ago, with legislation to boot. He is breaking the law from what i can see" it might be if he put it in those terms but in essence you can refuse to serve anyone and you don't have to say why.
would appreciate others opinions as to why he can discriminate so freely.
it's a fine point of law but you do noyt havbe to serve anyone as long as you are not not serving them because of their race/sexual orientation. Remember the guest house the other week that refused to allow gays to stay? well they made the mistake of saying they are not allowed because they are gay. If they just refused them then they are within their rights. This guy, I would imagine, simply refuses them and does not explain and later when asked says some general statement to the press etc but nothing that can be attributed to anyone specific.
the gay couple brought an action against the hotel owners and won, because the Christian couple would let them two rooms not one, as they didn't want them sharing a room, because that went against their religious beliefs.
that is from what i remember of the case, the couple didn't mind homosexuals they just didn't like two men sharing a room.
yes but their mistake was saying so. If they simply refused them point blank they would have been fine.
It's like going into a sweet shop and trying buy a mars bar. If they refuse you they are with their rights, they do not have to explain why.
He sounds an awful man but I can agree about no smokers or pet owners.

Smoking and sometimes the antics of pets could potentially ruin his property.

My daughter rented her house out while she was working abroad, she came back to find the place stinking of fags and woodwork chewed by their dog.

We have a small number of Rentals, mostly with long-term Tenants who are usually recommended by other Tenants as we tend to go for Ex-Service. If anyone we don't want asks, we just don't have anything vacant. Get very few problems overall.
