isnt the reason because she didnt declare it?
does seem rather harsh, but if they believe there is a conflict of interest what can she do.
Yes because she was dishonest in withholding the information that she undoubtedly knew may be seen aa a conflict of interest - not specifically because her brother worked for Barclays, there is a difference.
As it appears the question is openly asked about family also working in the Banking Industry it seems she had no choice.
She is not being denied a promotion because her brother works for a bank, she is resigning because her position and his role represents a conflict of interests which she failed formally to divulge - which is not the same thing at all.
I cross-posted with all the posts prior to mine - seems were are all of a like mind on this one.
Yep, I'll agree too.
It seems a classic case of the 'rich and powerful' (just have a look at her background) assuming that rules apply to everyone but them - and/or not having the due diligence to check that the little people had filled her forms in properly.

Of course she has to go - but will undoubtedly pop-up in another excessively well remunerated position after spending some time with her garden ...
Nice one gromit, It's a non disclosure issue, as you well know, surprised you headline with irrelevant cobras when it suits you, err not! Clear conflict of interest which the woman failed to disclose.
she claimed to have written the rules on conflict of interest, so I suppose she should be bound by them.

“I am in compliance with all of our codes of conduct. I know that. I helped to write them”

But I imagine it's Carney they're really gunning for.

come on mamy, own up, what did you say?
She resigned because she lied about having disclosed her brother's position, but it was always an untenable position for her because of the conflict of interest.
Something outrageous ;-)
She actually wrote the conflict of interests guidelines and then did not apply them to herself. She has not been denied promotion she has been sacked! She lasted as assistant governor of the Bank of England for less than 2 weeks!
// isnt the reason because she didnt declare it?//

according to the rule book that was written by er um herself
oo-er governor !

and she didnt declare it because 'she forgot'
and it would have been a fatal bar to appointment anyway
( she would be regulating a bank her brother was a middle manager in )

"All potential conflicts of interest, including conflicts with the interests of your immediate family, ..." is one...
and her brother counts in that one - advice to civil servants

or in the lord chancellors lecture to the Great and Good onwhat a busy boy he is/was/will be

"A foretaste of the increasing scrutiny on judicial independence emerged through the Pinochet cases in 1998 and 1999, where the disclosure of Lord Hoffman’s interest in Amnesty International resulted in the House of Lords setting aside its own decision. "

c said Ld Hoff sitting in a corner saying in a huffy tone
" I dont care what people say - I wasnt biased"
so Hoff the Huff agreed with that one ....
I was not able to work with Lloyd's Bank because my cousin did.
