I have absolutely no anti woman bias and had any other woman been chosen I would not have commented. However, how can this woman with the blood of an innocent Brazilian on her hands have been considered as a safe pair of hands to run the UK's largest police force.

Yeah I thought bra-heelians had better watch out
when she gets to be head girl

Dead eye Dick they call her

well she has done all the right jobs, crawled up the correct asses -ticked the right boxes

so whoopsie we get her as top cop.....

apprently with Jean Charles Menenez
'stop him' was interpreted as 'shoot him'

well that's OK then ......
Are you suggesting she may authorise the wholesale shooting of anyone carrying a rucksack grumpy?
I recall she was cleared/ found not responsible, but maybe we'd need to check what the exact official findings were

No shoota, I just think like P.P. suggests she has said the right things to the right people at the right time.
// Are you suggesting she may authorise the wholesale shooting of anyone carrying a rucksack grumpy?//

well the landscape has changed
we are post Bataclan
now anyone who shouts allahu akbar and takes people prisoner is gonna be a future dead person

no waiting around ( as they did at Bataclan ) and wondering when to open negotiations with the hostage takers

so she may be the girl for the job now
// I recall she was cleared/ found not responsible, //

I love it when someone comes out with trumpo alternative facts

yes this is correct - and the coroners case - the jury tacked on an extra bit ( 'rider') saying exactly that

In charge and not responsible
god I wish my job had been like that
( but it wasnt )
//I just think like P.P. suggests she has said the right things to the right people at the right time.//

Ah, not bothering with facts to determine her credentials for the role then.
Poor decision making.
The Prime Minister.....has made poor decisions.
Top heart surgeon has made ....poor decisions.
Famous and leading Barristers have made poor decisions.
Field Marshals in theatres of war have made ..... poor decisions.
Cressida Dick has made poor decisions.

If a candidate, male or female has the right credentials then he/she should be appointed.....poor decisions being unfortunately a pre-requisite......we all make them.
Sqad, while we are at it, we should blame Amber Rudd and the Queen!
LOL^^

She has not headed up a large provincial force AG which is usually a pre requisite for this job.
People are so quick to judge before the person has taken office.

Donald Trump and now Cressida Dick! Let's see what the latter is made of and then by all means judge her.

You never know, she may just pull it off...

O god Sqad if you feel you are not splenetic enough try:
John Laffin, British Butchers and Bunglers of World War One (1988)

like John Charles Menenez - would be funny except that someone dies ( Great War large numbers die)

[ modern historians say that Haig and his over-the-top strategy was the right one - yeah but some modern historian were in favour of Iraq)

// //I just think like P.P. suggests she has said the right things to the right people at the right time. //

yeah but no but

as a Manc (me) the story of John Stalker
is still very apposite ( didnt say the right things and had his career ruined by lesser men ) who prospered instead

I have just read that she had in fact retired from the Met two years ago and has since been involved in a counter intelligence role. Also a number of experienced Chief constables of provincial forces have retired so there were not many experienced candidates around.Although Sara Thornton a current Chief Constable was overlooked.

She should have lost her job when the manslaughter of Jean Charles de Menezes happened.
The Monarch, the Prime Minister, the Home Secretary, the head of the National Crime Agency, and the head of the Metropolitan Police are all women.

Hopefully the "safe pair of hands" now extends to pretty much the whole of the criminal justice system.
"She should have lost her job when the manslaughter of Jean Charles de Menezes happened."

What utter and complete nonsense. And use of the word manslaughter, is both factually incorrect and silly in equal measure.

Its very easy to forensically pull apart what happened after the event, but the events of that day have to viewed from the viewpoint of what was happening at that time, the intense pressure the police were under, the intelligence available and the need to make quick decisions. Making nonsense comments such as Mikey has made is very very easy using the marvelous gift of hindsight he has.

She made an incredibly hard decision that I would not have liked to have made, and I bet my left arm nobody else on here would have liked to have made, or had the balls to make, but unfortunately, using Mikey's hindsight, the decision resulted in the death of an innocent man.

Her career should not be defined this incredibly hard decision she made.
