Even Neil Gorsuch, Trumps nomination for the Supreme Court thinks Trump is wrong.

He described Trumps attack on the Judge as "demoralising" and "disheartening".

With friends like this, Trump doesn't appear to need any enemies !

The thing about any new President is that the person taking office is unproven in the role. That is a fact and it is only reasonable to give him time to put in place what was promised in campaigning. President Trump cannot be criticised, having been voted in, for attempting to make the changes that he proposed. The problem that we have seen in such a quick timeline...

He's bound to support his legal colleagues. Seems quite restrained to me.

And polite OG !
demoralising is it? diddums, there is a solution, stop blocking the elected leader!
Ahh bless. Some of the judiciary "decisions" demoralise me, but not for long.
I can think of little more demoralising and disheartening than a newly-elected president being continually criticised for attempting to do what he said he would do.

I can - it's a President who treats his powers as though they are there to indulge each and every of his petty thin-skinned whims - and the way he reacts when people criticise his decisions.

If he doesn't want his decisions questioned, then he shouldn't be in politics.

Oh, hang on ....

Even presidents have to be subject to the law.
Unless you're Putin, for example, when you are allowed to write or interpret those laws to suit yourself.

Mmmm …. such skins do present problems….. but attempting to do what he said he would do can hardly be described as a ‘whim’.
TTT When the 'Elected Leader' issues orders that are both illegal and unconstitutional there is no choice but to 'Block' those orders.
Trump may finally learn that he does not own the USA in the same way he owns his companies, and that he can't simply issue illegal / unconstitutional orders and demand that they be implemented without question.
I am beginning to think you would be better off living under an absolute dictatorship. You wanted us to leave the EU under unknown conditions decided in secret by just one person (Theresa May). Now you want the USA to simply give in and implement illegal orders given on the uttering of a known racist and misogynist without question! What would you say if Trump's next order was to ban all UK airlines from flying into the USA and demand that only US airlines could operate the services? It is no more ridiculous than the travel ban and the 'America First' program he is pushing at the moment.

I have absolutely no issue with any politician doing what he or she promised when campaigning, heaven knows its a rare enough occurrence!

My issue occurs with the way it is done in the case of President Trump.

Specifically - instead of taking the approved route through Congress and getting the 'i's dotted and the 't's crossed, he is rushing through executive orders because that's how he could behave in his business - I say, you do - now!

As President Trump is finding out, this is not his fiefdom, he is accountable, he will be questioned, and he has to obey the law, and he treats all these issues as personal attacks against his promised actions.

Nothing wrong with doing what you said you would President Trump - everything wrong with the way you go about it, and the way you react to any kind of criticism - there's that thin skin again.
"The president called a judge who halted his controversial travel ban a "so-called judge", and said any terror attacks on US soil would be his fault."

You're bang on the money, Mr President
andy-hughes, //he treats all these issues as personal attacks against his promised actions. //

Haha! Not that any of the attacks on him are personal. ;o)
eddie: "You wanted us to leave the EU under unknown conditions decided in secret by just one person (Theresa May)" - nice try, err, no, I want A50 invoked as ordered by the majority in a referendum., I don't care who invokes it it. I want us to leave the EU, full stop. I do not care about all the delaying tactic cobblers from the SGB.

A judge does not cease to be a judge simply because he criticises something the President has done, any more than Meryl Streep suddenly became 'a mediocre actress' after he veiled attack on his actions.

President Trump needs to learn, and learn very quickly, that you cannot take criticism like this personally, and react like a spoiled child every time it happens.

He needs to stop lashing out on Twitter, ignore the criticism that is not personal - along with the criticism that is personal, hey, it goes with the job Mr President - and start legislating professionally and behaving personally in ways that reflect the seniority and gravitas of your position.

This is politics President Trump, get with the programme. Shape up or ship out!

Has President Trump not realised yet that if he shows himself to be wounded by every little slight that comes his way, not only does he lose credibility as a statesman, but he looks like a whipped puppy, and the jibes will only increase.

You're not in your cosy business world now Mr President, where everyone says yes, and no-one upsets you, this is politics, you'd better start learning how it works.
andy-hughes, have you told him you're available for hire?

Sure, "ship him out" and bring in another wet lettuce president.

I'm looking forward to the next 8 years

I think you miss my point.

I am not saying that the American people should get rid of President Trump - I am saying that he needs to start realising how the world he is living in now actually works, and stop pretending that it's not how it is.

I'm not at all sure he will reach the end of this term, much less be re-elected, but if he plans to go the distance, he has got to get a grip and start acting like a President, which means being a statesman - something president Trump is a long way from achieving.
Naomi - //andy-hughes, have you told him you're available for hire? //

He couldn't afford me, plus I am still busy 'scratching pennies' writing about music - but thanks for the thought.
