Mick Talbot, would you please stop following me around making snidey trollish snipes for no good reason. You've made a career out of it and I might just have to break my protocol and report you. None of what you say to me has any discussion intent, it's sheer sh** stirring and you know it.

/// Is that different from the white-on-white turf war that has been ongoing too? ///

Who mentioned Whites?
I don't see how holding a contrary opinion can be described as "trolling".

/// South Yorkshire. Most of the gangsters types here are white or gypsies. ///

Really??????????

Nicky is a former gang member who now helps others to steer clear of violence.

He does it all the time JD, it's not just holding a contrary opinion, that is par for the course with debates. Just have a look back, he's made a hobby out of following me around making pointless digs.
"And this weeks top entry for 'look at me I'm not racist'
Answerprancer"

That's not exactly fertile ground for continued debate is it.
What "contrary opinion"?
All he did was copy and paste something I already posted with that inflammatory dig stuck on top.

"Rightho. How does that work then"
It works by being an individual's own personal choice as to how they identify themselves, not just on the race spectrum but in other areas of their lives (IMO).

I get your point but I don't agree with it. Related to this, what is your opinion about trans-gender people?
I think AP's having read the thread had picked up on AOG's reply to Zacs yesterday at 15.26

Zacs-Master

/// Obama is of mixed race so it's not completely correct to say he's the first black president. ///

Most Black/White mixed race persons consider themselves to be black, never white, for some strange reason.

President Obama, is regularly classed as America's first black President.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bringing in an element of choice or identification.
That is correct Mamya but I though people were clear about that.

I wasn't overly sure Dive had picked up that reference, it is a long thread.

Now I've just read your response a bit more carefully DB.

"if Lenny Henry suddenly decided that he fancies being Asian, he simply declares it so and we all agree".

AFAIC it's treading on thin ground questioning someone's ethnic origins.
Do you know whether Mr Henry is black or mixed race? I don't and AFAIC it's HIS business as to how he identifies. I'd guess if you went up and asked him, he'd say he is British anyway.
It's not just a case of "fancies".

Over and above all this ....why should it matter?
It looks to me that you're just looking for trouble, otherwise why use flippant phrases like:

"this exciting concept"
"your other lulu"
"Or thought about it at all"

..are you incapable of debating with me without making snidey remarks like those?

Apparently it is called 'The one drop rule'.

From Wikipedia,

/// The one-drop rule is a social and legal principle of racial classification that was historically prominent in the United States asserting that any person with even one ancestor of sub-Saharan-African ancestry ("one drop" of black blood)[1][2] is considered black (*** in historical terms). This concept evolved over the course of the 19th century and became codified into law in the 20th century. It was associated with the principle of "invisible blackness" and is an example of hypodescent, the automatic assignment of children of a mixed union between different socioeconomic or ethnic groups to the group with the lower status.[3] ///
