What do you think of Daniel Craig to play James Bond?

Did anyone see him in Our Friends up North?  It was great, and he was great in it.

did I just see him chewing gum? Oh dear.

I'm a big fan of Bond, and I really wanted Clive Owen, but he allegedly turned it down (again, allegedly)for financial reasons.

I'm happy with Craig, he should bring a sense of realism after all that invisible car nonsense.

My choice would have been Martin Kemp, sleek, suave and sophisticated..when he needs to be:--)))
Kemp would've been just a Moore/Brosnan continuation - smooth, suave, smug. I agree with jamesy boy, the series needs an injection of reality. The gadgets, the girls falling at Bond's feet after roughly 5 minutes, the cartoon baddies, it's all too cheesy. Daniel Craig has promised to bring something new and I think he just might.
Of course, no matter how good and charismatic he is, if he's given a duff script, he'll bomb

Brosnan was perfect in my books as Bond and would bu pretty hard to find a replacement as good as him. Not sure what Daniel Craig is like on screen but out of all the contenders I would of considered Dougrey Scott and even Ralph Fiennes, as he was said to have narrowly avoided the role before.

Incidently, was it true that even ex-cricketeer of Pakistan Imran Khan was once considered the role years ago after Roger Moore ?

Susan 123 You've pipped me to the post, I have just logged on to ask this very question.  I agree with Alfie, Brosnan is the best Bond, I just have to say a big fat NO to Daniel Craig he looks to worn or maybe weathered is a better word.  My choice for a new Bond would have been Rupert Everett but I doubt they would ever consider a gay actor to play that part.

I can't help but think of Daniel Craig as a german soldier - he has that 'quality' about him.

He is not handsome or suave enough for Bond - Though I don't mean he's ugly or anything, just 'not right' for the role.

I agree on clive owen.

Though, what about craig fairbrass? played Dan in eastenders? I think he may have been a baddie in one of the bond films so that would be interesting LOL.

Ian Fleming's original Bond wasn't just a smooth talking womaniser, but a ruthless hard man. Timothy Dalton carried it out pretty well actually, but unfortunately proved a failure to the audience.
I've just said this on another thread... but I don't think 007 is meant to be realistic or gritty (and Fleming's original dream was that David Niven would play the role). It's always been to do with escapism. I think the films have got far too big for their own good, and lost a lot of narrative drive for the sake of huge explosions. But I don't think anything is to be gained by making realistic spy movies (which would basically have Bond sitting at a desk filling out reports most of the time).
...yep, whatever you say jno....
give me that answer in quintuplicate ALFIE on form SPY007/05/B2

...??? jno, eh..??

Maybe he'll give the whole thing a bit of a tweak!

To Mr Craig, please dye your hair, niether Connery, Moore, Dalton or the Aussie had blonde locks. Good god a blonde bond. Connery even spared us his baldness with a toup and the Aussie one apparently dyed his. oh yeah and Chris Evans for new bond baddie (would save the writers building on how evil he is) plus a ginger baddie would be cool xxx
