What we should be asked Francois Hollande is, "why are there still 1,500 unaccompanied migrant children left in the Calais Jungle"?

Surely they should have been first on the buses taking them to other centres across France, or was he hoping that the 'soft' British would taken them off his hands?

Good for her.

//The French president urged British authorities to 'do their part' //

We don't have 'a part'. France allowed them into their country. It's their problem.

I can't understand, now that the Jungle is a smoking heap, how can there be 1500 kids left ?

If the Jungle has gone, where are these possibly vulnerable kids living now ?

This from the attached link.

/// He said the remaining minors, most of whom are living in shipping containers in the remains of the camp, would be transferred 'very quickly' to other centres. ///

AOG....I understood from recent news reports, that the Jungle had been destroyed.....it appears then, that it hasn't.

I presume the the French are dealing with these youngsters, in the normal humanitarian way, at least for the time being.

Here is a BBC link that explains the situation :::

I do wish you would fully read links, especially the ones supplied by yourself.

*** At least 1,500 minors have been staying at a special container camp at the site, but it has been full and many children have also reportedly been sleeping rough. ***

Sleeping rough???? That doesn't seem very humanitarian to me.
How could 1500 unaccompanied children end up in this squalid camp? Was it they were accompanied in the first place but then abandoned when the parents made their escape to utopia?
AOG....it doesn't seem very humanitarian to me either !

They're not 'children'.

They're not 'children'.

Be careful naomi, you know what you were arguing yesterday.

And 'children' in inverted comers, the mortal sin on AB.
aog at 13:34. I'm not talking about that. I read several weeks ago that all the young children are accompanied.
Whether these are children or not isn't the point. Its France's job to look after them, something they have shown no great facility for yet.

No only the ones we were taking in, but then as you know when we discovered that they were not, the screens went up and we wasn't given the privilege to see.

Well said mikey.
Mikey at 13:50. These aren't 'children' and they're not our problem.
Thanks AOG...I am certainly not a Francophile !

They have hardly covered themselves in glory over the whole affair, and its about time they faced up to the problem, that is on their land.
//its about time they faced up to the problem//

They're trying to. They want to send more here - and you, as far as I can tell, would welcome that.
The bombing made them look older.

Cobblers, I was in London during the blitz, was bombed out four times, didn't make me look any older.
