But, as I understand it, Marmite is made in the UK, not "abroad". If that is the case, then why is the price going but by this huge amount ?

Marmite is made entirely from ingredients sourced in the UK. Even the vegetable extract and celery extract it contains comes from the UK and the UK has ample suppliers of the compound vitamin preparation it contains. Anyone else think the recent 'Marmite scandal' was an intentional plot between Tesco and Unilever? Tesco's boss used to be the head of Unilever!
I am certain the entire story was a 'plant' between the two of them to increase sales of Marmite. It was reported a day or so ago that the sales of Marmite had risen by 12% since the story.
I have the Morrisons own brand version of Marmite 'Yeast Extract' it is less than 1/2 the price of Marmite but tastes the same.
