Two hours for the first mention of polished stairs, is that a record?
What's the legal position on his release ?

Can the Home secretary/legal system impose certain conditions for his release - e.g if he returns to espousing his rhetoric , then he can be instantly re- arrested and return to jail ; without going through another trial ?
Can the prosecution appeal against the leniency of the sentence?.

Hans.
it can happen, Hans. But I've said on another thread that half the maximum sentence for a first offence, and a new crime at that, seems about normal; early release would be too.

Both men were also sentenced to a notification order lasting 15 years, which requires them to tell police if details such as their address change.
Do civil laws still apply to prison inmates? Is preaching hate and support for a terrorist organisation inside a prison still an offence?
New Judge....out of interest, what was the maximum sentence he could have had for his offence ?
Question Author
I thought it was out here that it could be ten ... I could of course be wrong.
Ten years was given on the link.
// In "the good old days" occasionally a prisoner would fall down the stairs or out of a window, with a very unfortunate result. Sometimes, the old ways were best.// diveb

that the men were, in Paddy Hill's words, "tortured and framed" on arrest, beaten, subjected to mock executions, threatened with being thrown from a high building or a car on the motorway, and burnt with cigarettes; that their torturers were the infamous West Midlands serious crime squad, [Gareth Peirce pinko leftie lawyer]

O the good old days
h
the framing of non terrorists for terrorist offences for 15 y
how I miss them ( and the west mids serious crime squad ]
and the perjury that must have gone with it

O bring them all back ! the good old days were the best !

my point is that we both agree that prisoners were abused and confessions were beaten out of them in the seventies

that you clap your hands and say more please ! even tho we now know they didnt do it

and I er disapprove

that you were in a position to do something about it then ( as you obviously knew it occurred but approved )
and I was not and didnt believe anyway that people in charge - your colleagues, divebuddy - were doing it

so really as you can see
we agree on quite a lot

the final point is on sentencing remarks
max is ten y in answer to mikeys question
and it cant be made indeterminate as the legislation doesnt allow it
( and as you know Diveb judges have to er abide by the law )

I suppose my point can be summed up as
there is enough gratuitous violence in prison without the warders joining in
Unsure of how much free money a hate preacher receives in the UK but this could save the tax payer at least £100,000. Unless his family receives it. Yes, it is annoyed sarcasm but probably true.
Why are these extremists not deported to Syria?!? They come here, never worked, living of the social and still this country is not good enough for them!
Perhaps New Judge will tell us if Treason is still an offence in the UK and those who commit such a crime against the state can be subjected to Hanging.

I am thinking that, if such is the case, the treason act should be used for terrorist offences.

Hans.

Chowder is British born. He wanted to go to Syria though and I would grant him his wish when he gets out.
