This set-up should never have been allowed to form in the first place.

I don't think the migrants have been 'given' accommodation, so much as they have assimilated it.

That said, the indifference and inaction of the French government has led to this dangerous situation which must be addressed now.

Thanks for clarifying - I misunderstood your post.

To clarify - I think the migrants have to be placed somewhere temporarily, the sheer logistics of relocating them cannot be done as quickly as most citizens would like.

But that arrangement should be as short and as temporary as possible, allowing for the transition back to countries of origin.

The Calais migrants were given new accommodation back in January.

But they have been provided with accommodation in the form of converted containers. They won't move in though because they have to register and they feel that this will stop them from getting over here.

Once in the container it can be shut, loaded onto transport, and they can be taken back to wherever they came from.

Solution:

Establish a secure transit camp where they are interned until processed. Those with no papers go to Jail until their identity can be established. Those that are genuine Asylum seekers can claim Asylum in a safe country, oh thats France then.

Same goes for the kids which anyone with 1/2 ounce of common realizes is just a cynical method of getting the whole family into the UK. They too should be taken into a secure camp; for their own saftey of course.

The UK could also help. No benefits for anyone who has not paid in, no houses, no cars , no money - nothing. No immigrants allowed in who cannot support themselves and have no papers deporting immediately ignoring unelected European judges.

Quite simply it is time to stop pandering to the whims of a few right-on lefties an get tough.

The object of the exercise is exactly as OG says, I suspect you got that Zacs but to humour you:

1) funded by whom? Schengen Countries - they are responsible for most of the problem.
2) where is the capacity in French jails? FM it out to the Turkish, they run a good jail. Or build some.
3) this would probably encourage more of them (warm safe place with a roof over their heads for a while)? That is not what they are after, they could get that by applying for Asylum in a safe country - That'll be France then.
4) for how long? As long as it takes.
5) what happens on their release? If they have papers and are successful in seeking an Asylum claim than out just like others, otherwise its straight on a plane to where they came from.(funded by the Schengen countries before you as)

It would not b forever, except in a few odd ball cases.

Once they realize they are really not going to be given any chance of getting into the UK (bit more difficult if you have to get out of jail before hoping on a chunnel lorry) they will be off. It would be helped of course if we were harder too (as the French have quite rightly pointed out in the past)

The simplest solution would be to declare an amnesty, allow them all to come to the UK, transport and settle them in the north of Scotland (plenty of room), and let Ms Sturgeon worry about the rest.
