...says world-leading air crash investigator, Larry Vance. An Australian-led search for the missing jet has focused on an area of the ocean floor 2,000km (1,242 miles) off Australia's west coast. The zone was selected based on the theory the flight was running on autopilot after veering off course. But an official co-ordinating the search effort told 60 Minutes the wreckage could be outside that search zone, if someone had been in control of the plane when it crashed.

I wonder if we'll ever know what happened?

Aah that's what I got 237SJ. I thought I could have made a call or sent a text. So the reality is there could have been dozens of distress calls, text messages and uploaded videos that were made that never were sent? Have the flight crash investigators tried to see whether any of these were attempted to be sent or see if the phones used as certain mast before it went down?

I'm guessing that was one of the 1st things they did. So sad but can't believe that there was no fight for control of the plane just a peaceful landing until it hit the sea and sank.

Where are the Trumps,Bransons etc.. As if I was a billionaire I'd want to help to get to the bottom of this as something doesn't sit right in my stomach over this.

Are they still searching with all resources available or has it been called off of some "reason"

Indeed - who knows?

That^ was to 237SJ.
Be that as it may Olivio, only a brave women would risk the wrath of the ladies in uniform !
Good one Olivio. I think we both know you are not telling the truth.
From that report I am not sure if it could be a controlled ditching due to a fault or engine failure, or does it have to be another 'German Wings' incident where the pilot intentionally crashed the aircraft?
It it was another German Wings situatuation the Captain would have flown the aircraft straight into the sea and would have not messaged around spending hours flying the aircraft for hours before he did it.
*messed*
Olivio As a newcomer you certainly seem to pick the more bizarre ideas.
From the old conspiracy theory that the drug companies are sitting on cures to all the world's diseases , to suggesting that USA style 'Gun Culture' should be introduced to the UK. Now you claim to have a mobile phone that works over the middle of the ocean when we all know that mobile phones need to be in 'Line of Sight' to the transmitter to get a signal.
What next, proof that the Royal Family are really Green Lizards from another galaxy??

237SJ, Why not? How do we know he wouldn't have done that? Who's to say he didn't spend the time deliberating - having second thoughts? We can't presume to know what was going on in his mind.
We don`t know anything but common sense says that if a pilot was on a suicide mission he would do it fairly quickly and not mess around for hours. Just my opinion.
Mind you, I have only been working in airline safety and been around pilots for 31 years and been working on tripple sevens for near on 2 decades so what do I know? :-)
The problem I see with that theory is how did the pilot manage to keep the other crew out of the cabin for all that time ? There is a flight deck crew of 3 and only 1 is allowed out of the cockpit at any time. The German Wings plane had just 2 in the cockpit and the pilot was able to lock the co-pilot out.
Or did we have a suicidal crew not just one pilot??
Question Author
237SJ, I don't know if that is common sense. I imagine a lot of people who set out with the intention of killing themselves ponder it for a while before making a final decision either way.
^^ That was not to your last post 237SJ, it was in answer to the bit about flying round for hours before the crash.

I suppose we're just going to have to wait and see - that's if the truth ever emerges.
No worries Eddie. I`m on my part time week off now. I don`t even want to think about aeroplanes (even though they are in the blood). Night night
Olivio the search is still continuing it is being conducted by the Australian navy, it has NOT been 'called off' . It is just that they have failed to find anything more so it is not 'newsworthy'. The Australians have one of their largest ships doing nothing else but the search.
237SJ
who knows one mind
if hes switched off communications which apparently he did .he knew how far the aircraft could fly and for how many hours maybe just maybe he wanted it never to be found by keeping it up a long as he could over a very deep part of the ocean, and quite possibly could have had a disabling device of some kind on him to incapacitate the co-pilot
