FRENCH Prime Minister Manuel Valls says the country is to shut down certain mosques, cut foreign funding and police the content delivered in sermons in a massive crackdown on Islamic fundamentalism.

Meanwhile, former French president Nicolas Sarkozy has demanded every person suspected of being involved in terrorism be placed under house arrest.

And he said accessing jihadi websites should be made a crime similar to that of paedophiles who view and distribute content online.

France is also considering legislation that will allow it to remove and expel dual national citizens.

Perhaps curtailing the building of more Mosques is a security issue. The existing ones would seem to have become a hotbed of radical indoctrination and terrorist radicalisation which mean valuable resources are tied up monitoring what is going on. Why would the French, or indeed any Country that faces this conundrum encourage even more of the same...

It is like a disease, yes one should try and get rid of the source, but that does not mean ignoring the victims of the disease, much better and safer for all to quarantine them from the rest of the community. //

Any faith can be seen as a 'disease' if you do not support it - and any human beings who worship in a way you think is alien can be reduced to the worth and status of animals.

God forbid I ever view any of my fellow humans in such cold and detached terms - and double God forbid that anyone who possesses such a cold and callous disregard for anyone on earth is ever in a position to put those views into any kind of action.

I think your view is appalling.

/// They bomb and kill because they think the West are corrupt soulless jingoistic bullies - why would you want to go ahead and prove them right? ///

And are you naive enough into believing that if we the West proved to them that we are not 'corrupt soulless jingoistic bullies' (which by your very description you also appear to think) they would just stop their bombing and killing and just go away?

No I didn't think that you did, I was just referring to others ignoring your post.

/// Ta for ba as well. ///

You are welcome, a very good answer for those demanding answers all the time.
AOG - in view of your post reducing Muslims to contaminated animals, I am declining to debate this thread with you any further - I have nothing further to add to what I have said.

Such religious appeal for forgiveness from devout atheist, or is it just the Christian faith that you don't defend?

HELLO? ARE YOU DEAF?

No, I suppose not, probably just ignoring my explicit instructions. If you can't be civil, you'll be suspended!

Last time chaps!

If you're attacking a poster rather than what they've said, you've lost.

I have no wish to be suspended, but please can we have a little equality, why wasn't the offending post removed and the poster taken to task?

andy-hughes entered this totally untrue and discriminating post aimed at me.

/// AOG - in view of your post reducing Muslims to contaminated animals, ///

Have I not the right to defend what I actually said?

In your own words: "If you're attacking a poster rather than what they've said, you've lost".

How can I not attack a particular poster in this case AH for what he said, they both go together?
I AOG, do you really think that's the same?

You're not asking for equality.

I don't really have time to explain it to you if you can't understand it.

Step back, take a breath. Have a think about the way you approach these discussions.

Talbot - //Far too many Mosques do preach hate. //

I think you'll find its Imams who preach - rather than the buildings.

But that minor discrepancy aside, would it not be better to address the radical Imams and deal with them, instead of persecuting an entire faith structure, which simply fuels the very radicalism everyone is trying to get rid of.

As for your first paragraph .... Pathetic ... I could nitpick all day to life is too short.

Nobody forces the audience members to listen to the radical imams and yet ... They do.
Talbot - //Nobody forces the audience members to listen to the radical imams and yet ... They do. //

Gaining an audience is not the issue.

I could stand in my local town square with a megaphone and announce that the earth is flat, and get an audience.

Having an audience does not mean that everything the speaker says is either believed, or factual.

But the essence of my point is this - if there are Imams who are preaching hatred and promoting violence - and there are - it is a matter of silencing them first.

If the anti-Islam Imams are silenced, the audience disappears.
Why don't the audience vote with their feet and leave?
Probably because of the Imam's standing in the community.
I could stand in my local town square with a megaphone and announce that the earth is flat, and get an audience.

Silly anology, you would get an audience be use they would be laughing and mocking you ... Hardly the same thing as to why Imams get an audience
Because ... not 'be use' ^
