It appears that Sir Cliff Richard has instructed his legal people to commence procedings in suing the BBC & South Yorkshire Police. The amount quoted is £1 million which has been calculated as loss of earnings.Hopefully he secures every penny and these two organisations will be more careful in future about how they conduct themselves.

he may have a little difficulty demonstrating how he lost millions.

It appears the police search was legitimate, he'd been accused of a crime; so I don't see how raiding his house (the police) or covering the raid (the BBC) can be improper.
From what I do know he was lucky the police found nothing else in his pad whilst absent.
He is no plaster saint.
I think he would be a bloody fool to try sue anybody over this....all it will do is open a can 45 year old worms, all over again.

If he wants to be remembered as a cross between Peter Pan and Bilbo Baggins, he should just lie low for a while and then continue to appear in medium-sized venues, for the further edification of middle-aged women in printed frocks and their daughters.
Middle aged?
Ummmm...being ironic again....not always easy to put into a post !
I didn’t know Clement Freud had been exposed as being a paedo. That will put Henry off his Minced Morsels!

As for Cliff, I can understand his reaction, but surely he would be better off keeping out of the headlines and hoping it would be forgotten.

I think I’m right in saying that on the day it was announced that Cliff wouldn’t face any charges, it wasn’t ‘high priorty' news, as it was during the time the MP got stabbed. Perhaps if the dropping of charges had been given more publicity, he may not now feel the need to for legal action.
Bigbad...well he has got all the publicity he wants now ::::

From the above link :::

"The Crown Prosecution Service said it had decided there was "insufficient evidence to prosecute".

One of Cliffs problems here is that he didn't admit being gay years ago, possibly because he thought it would damage his sparkly clean reputation and that it might not sit well with his Christian beliefs.

But I still maintain he will be opening up a can of worms in suing the BBC and the SYP.

You may have opened up your own can of worms, there, Mikey - “One of Cliffs problems here is that he didn't admit being gay years ago”

I think you may be next on Cliff’s list of people to sue!
Bigbad...well...its hardly a secret anymore, is it !
You really don't like him, do you, Mikey?
It was nasty of you Mikey, to send him that 'Hello Kitty' pencil case for his birthday.
Not really chrissa1, but liking or disliking the subject of a thread is not essential to taking part in the debate is it ?

I just think that if he is really thinking of exposing his whole life in a court of law, he is being badly advised.

Look what happened to Oscar Wilde ?
lol Gromit !
Yes Oscar just left Reading Gaol and swanned over to France to reside and die and that was before 'Free M ovement' and the EU. Simples. Whats the problem?
From the Wilde Wiki entry ::::

"Wilde had the Marquess of Queensberry prosecuted for libel. The Marquess was the father of Wilde's lover, Lord Alfred Douglas. The charge carried a penalty of up to two years in prison.

The trial unearthed evidence that caused Wilde to drop his charges and led to his own arrest and trial for gross indecency with men. After two more trials he was convicted and imprisoned for two years' hard labour"
Apparently, or it is alledged, Cliff Richard has a Super Injunction preventing any mention of his alledged behaviour being reported. By its very nature, it is difficult to prove if the Super Injunction exists, but if it does, a Court Case will be hampered, r the reporting of it will.
Perhaps Cliff is expecting the BBC and SYP to cough up before it gets to court.
Gromit....not sure of the Super Injunction ?

The press have been full of reports about Cliff and his dealings with the BBC and the SYP for ages now, so I'm not sure if an injunction can exist ?
By its nature, a super injunction is impossible to verify.

People who allege that there is is one, say it covers the Elm Guest House allegations. Try finding that in the mainstream press, you won't.
Thanks Gromit....I think you may be right.
Go get em Cliff. They hung you out to fry...
