"We understand that debates get heated, but personal attacks and abusive language will not be tolerated"

Can we all calm down a bit please?

I've been written to several times about how abrasive and aggressive this section has become.

Several have pointed out that the language in particular has become childish and brutish, with name calling and hyperbole being especially annoying.

So let's calm down a bit. Let's stop calling people "traitors to britain" and "friends of jihad" or similarly rude things.

If you can't make your opinion felt without resorting to these personal attacks, then you'll likely be met with suspension, or banning.

All the best,

Ed

This Referendum issue is sort of like a math/maths class: It has created quite a division amongst you, and the gap is multiplying daily with the addition of acrimonious remarks which is really subtracting from the quality of the site.

You've beat me with sherbet.
Part of that, TTT, I think, is that you're going down to the pub to get clap, and have a reubin sandwich before you take some ice-cream home to you pet...Am I learning?
sherbet dab JD
gor strike a light stoo
I aint heard a ( cockney ) sparra speak the Pearly Queen's ( English ) better
Ah, to me it was always a sherbet dip, which is why I could not rhyme it.
right I'm off up the apples to my uncle, night night.
Not quite, Stuey. He's going down the road to the pub (not sure about clap) then picking up a curry before getting a cab back to the house.
clap and cheer JD. You must learn the ways of the cart (horse).
Haaha 3t will get his Berlins kicked if he aint careful.
I knew that, JD; I was just pretending to be a foot.
If nothing else this thread must have given Ed some new ideas for a fresh topic in the newly refurbished site later this year.

The Cock's Egg Catalogue.

It may free up the news section a little ;-)

This one works as well Mamy.
After a pigs at the battle I think I'll nip down the frog for a ruby. I might get a sherbert and save me plates.
Of course if you get a sherbet you don't have to worry if you're a bit Brahms!
Well said Editor.
As far as I am aware (99.9% sure) No one on AB knows me. yet I can be labelled 'traitor'. The broad brush condemnations and, to be honest, juvenile name calling and labelling, does no one any credit, hiding, as we all do, behind the anonymity of 'created' names.
Remember all you who protest, when it's gone it's gone. Off to see Uncle Ted. Had a supper of Rink a Dink and Jockeys earlier.
Quite right. These abusive postings have been going on for quite some time. I fail to see how this thread from ED has been allowed to become ' chatterbank' maybe read the post and change you're behaviour if it applies to you.
I wasn't posting a catalogue - I have plenty of references (though not included are the ones made up yesterday of course).

It was but a suggestion for the title of a new topic where you could exercise your linguistics freely.
That certainly applies to me, Anne; however, I suspect that the Editorial Team is quite happy to be getting responses, even though they are in the "wrong" Topic, because of ad. revenues and thus the continuation of the site.
Yay, I managed to get my post removed. Lol, some of us will never learn.
