I have just remembered this. It was written by Charles Sykes and used by Bill Gates in a speech to graduates in the USA a number of years ago. RULE 1 Life is not fair - get used to it. RULE 2 The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself. RULE 3 You will NOT make 40 thousand dollars a...

Society seems to be totally ***
We now live in a world in which people would have you believe there are two kinds of people White people and people of colour.

Racism, racism, outrage, racism more outrage ... where is the outrage here
https://twitter.com/Pardus_UK/status/747865544016203776 ?

Many people of various races and colour must has seen that placard, didn't anyone stand up and tell him it was wrong?

I never suggested for 1 moment that the vote be overturned - and I am allowed to continue to feel let down and disappointed but the results!

However ponder this - in order to trade with the EU which we must in order to survive we must like other states take on some of the EU rules - so we will have to follow orders and not receive any of the benefits.

What about the money given to Northern Ireland - which has made a huge difference to a downtrodden area - who will support all the projects over there.

Cornwall is already asking Westminster to plug the gap that leaving the EU will leave even though they voted a majority out!
Mine`s gone to CPI as well PP (not that I`m in receipt of it yet) Nothing that you can do about it though.
"n order to trade with the EU which we must in order to survive we must like other states take on some of the EU rules - so we will have to follow orders and not receive any of the benefits. " - No a thousand times no, have you listened to nothing up to now?
All they care about is cheap roaming charges when they go to Ibeeza.

Dave.
We still don't know who's right about that, TTT -- negotiations haven't started yet.
we import 10 times from the EU what we export, it is them that are worried.
Consider this
If the EU is so great why are so many Easter Europeans leaving their own country to live under a bloody bridge in the UK?

Something not quite right there wouldn't you agree?
Surely there are millions of jobs in the EUSSR for the youngsters who feel entitled to travel. Greece? Spain? Italy? Albania? Poland? My ancestors found work to do in Europe. The Somme, Passchendaele, Gallipoli.
TTT - maybe costs will be higher if we import from somewhere other than than the EU?
In order to trade with the UK (which they must in order to survive ?) they must, like other states take on some of the UK rules - so they will have to follow orders or not receive any of the benefits.

I've not seen the figures. Did NI receive more in EU benefits than the UK sent the EU then ?

Of course Cornwall will want their share of the money that used to go to the EU to continue any grants they presently receive. Why shouldn't they ? And what has how they voted got to do with anything ? They are still part of our UK.
Well, whatever, TTT -- for my part I don't think we gain anything by cutting ourselves off from someone who makes products we want so much of, so taking a hard punitive line on our side is likely to backfire spectacularly.

The UK won't be able to hold the EU to ransom in the way you seem to imply. Both sides hurt each other by taking that stance.
no, if there are tarrifs it is on exports.
I mean if they want to get funny with us we put import duty so their goods get a lot more expensive for consumers, QED they don't sell. Gawd help us it's the basics.
TTT what about transportation costs?
I vaguely remember the good old days of trade wars when tariffs led to retaliatory tariffs which led to bigger tariffs...

no different, we are still buying from the same place, we'll have done a deal, you buy our stuff we buy yours tada! Are BMW going to say no to selling us their jam jars cos they are in a tizzy? You've been frightened by project fear, that's all just forget that and think logically.
// that's all just forget that and think logically.// 3T
