// And where is Mr Corbyn? Not seen him on the campaign trial. //

Labour have learned a lesson from the Scottish Independence referendum. They led the campaign to remain but suffered a backlash that annilated them in Scotland.
If Cameron does win the referendum vote, he will be deeply unpopular with a large section of Conservative voters.
Corbyn personally, is anti EU. Hence his non participation.

He has participated, albeit briefly, confirming his support of the Remain brigade.

/Mr Corbyn said despite his "many criticisms" of the EU, he was fully behind the Remain campaign//

Naomi,
The Labour Party supports EU membership, but its leader does not. Which is why I Said that he personally was not a remainer.

// Jeremy Corbyn has been accused of "rewriting history" after deleting hundreds of outspoken articles and speeches from his website including a number of pieces critical of the EU.
One of the articles sets out the Labour leader's true feelings on the European Union in a damning attack about the influence the bloc has over the British Government.
Mr Corbyn has wiped his entire archive of writing from his personal blog meaning that none of the articles can be accessed. //

// It comes after much speculation about the views of a man who voted to leave the European Economic Community in the 1975.
Mr Corbyn has expressed Eurosceptic arguments in the past - in 1993, he spoke out against the Maastricht Treaty which established the European Union and moved towards economic and political union.
The treaty, Mr Corbyn said, "takes away from national parliaments the power to set economic policy and hands it over to an unelected set of bankers who will impose the economic policies of price stability, deflation and high unemployment throughout the European Community".
He voted against the Lisbon Treaty in 2008, and in one article on his website, said the EU had "always suffered a serious democratic deficit". //

Gromit, I know what he's done, I know what his personal stance is on Europe, and I know he has said publicly that he is fully behind the Remain campaign. Hypocrite.
He is towing the party line as politicians and particularly leaders, have to*. When he is working as a politiian he has to campaign how his party tell him, when he is off duty, he has his own opinion.

* This does not apply to parties with weak leadership, such as the Conservatives.
'* This does not apply to parties with MPs who put country before party, such as the Conservatives.'

There you go, gromit old chap, fixed it for you.
Question Author
Gromit, no leader is weaker than one who does as he's told.
There are two types (at least) of good leaders. Which is preferred depends on circumstances and culture. One is forceful enough to ensure what they want goes and leads folk to follow their plan. The other is aware enough of needing to represent the democratic opinion of the group around them and ensure the group decision comes to fruition. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

As a believer in democracy I prefer the latter until the situation develops when there is no time to analyse/decide and we have to trust whoever has the responsible position to make the decision and do the best they can.
Leaders with big majorities, Thatcher, Blair, rule from a position of strengthbut ultimately make mistake due to their own arrogance. Leaders with small majorities such as Major and Cameron, are weak and at the mercy of a few idiots in their Government.
anyone remember when Boris was calling for Turkey to be let into the EU?

I think the remain people are keeping quiet because why shouldn't they? They have no dog in this fight. They are already in the position they prefer.
It's only people who want to leave the EU that are causing this referendum. It is the exit campaigners and the current government who are tipping the apple cart.
