/// Kayani, who will remain in custody until a hearing on July 5, now faces extradition to France ///

Why does this suspected people smuggler, who is stated as 'Iraq born' but granted British citizenship, face extradition to France?

/// Kayani, who was granted British citizenship three years ago, is reported to have arrived in Britain as an asylum seeker in 2003. He is the fifth major suspect arrested on suspicion of people smuggling by the NCA in the last year. ///

Criminals are sometimes extradited to a country where there is a warrant outstanding - perhaps this is the case here.
Presumably in addition to any offences committed in the UK, he has broken the law in France too. I had a quick Google but couldn't see any details of alleged offences in France.

That well may be the case, but it makes one think could his offence be of a more serious crime than people smuggling?

However if it does come about, he has more chance on being treated less lenient in France, than he could ever be in Britain.
What makes you think he would be treated less leniently in France?

One has only too see the way they treat their refugees.
I'm sure the authorities have a reason , not sure who you would ask to find out what it is.
I don't really care where he goes as long as he goes.
