At last...the truth is out.

Some important points from the above :::

Police failures led to the deaths in the 1989 Hillsborough disaster.

Jurors answered yes to the question about whether any police error caused or contributed to a dangerous situation at the 1989 FA Cup semi-final.

The behaviour of Liverpool fans did not contribute to the dangerous situation at the turnstiles.

Retrocop - in reference to the Chief Constable of South Yorkshire's suspension - //Why has this man got to be the scapegoat and fall on his sword.// It is nothing to do with being a 'scapegoat' - it is to do with being head of an organisation which is revealed to have wilfully obstructed the inquest in its investigations, and continued the entire tragic...

whatever..the people have finally got what they were looking for....justice..nuff said !!

Andy, Minty and others....it seems to me that no matter how compelling the evidence is, there will always be some who refuse to believe the verdicts of this Inquest. Verdicts that came after 2 years of due process, and 1000's of hours of testimony.

Its the usual case of....." I have made my mind up, now don't confuse me with the facts"

The Police lied...get over it everybody !

PiedP...yes it is. The result of this Inquest is now taken as correct.

Dreadful though the Timothy Evans case was, it bears no resemblance to this two year Hillsborough Inquest Two. The main reason why the original Inquest One delivered the wrong verdicts is because the Police lied in their evidence, ie they committed perjury.

Very few people now still maintain that the the Inquest One verdicts were correct.
mikey - // Dreadful though the Timothy Evans case was, it bears no resemblance to this two year Hillsborough Inquest Two. //

Actually it does - Evans' conviction and subsequent execution was founded in a large part on the evidence of his landlord John Christie, who lied in court under oath, and as a result Evans was convicted and hanged.

Christie later admitted to the murders for which Evans was convicted, and Evans received a posthumous pardon.

Christie was seen as a pillar of the community because he served as a War Reserve police constable, making the notion that he would lie seem so absurd as to be impossible.

In fact, Christie was a convicted felon, but the police failed to check his criminal record before employing him.

Resemblances indeed ...
Question Author
Indeed Andy !
/// Is it any wonder that the Police in general have lost the confidence of a lot of us. ///

/// Crocodile tears now is just not good enough. We keep being told that the Police have changed but have they ? Where is the evidence ? ///

Regardless of what andy-hughes says, (and he doesn't seem to have a liking for the police either, even going back as far as blaming them for not checking on Christie), it is a known fact that our mikey is a 'police basher' supreme.

In fact he will regularly pick up on the presumed injustices carried out by the American Police.
Are you a 'police basher' Mikey?

I would not suggest that you are.

My like or dislike for the police is certainly not evidenced in my post where I pointed out that the police at the time failed to check Christie's record.

I stated it as a simple fact, no inference of my opinion of the police can, or should be deduced from that statement.

AOG...drivel !

The Police lied and lied and lied, and now they are feeling the consequences of so doing...get used to it !
Bashing the police over something they did wrong is different to bashing the police in general.
Mikey, //it seems to me that no matter how compelling the evidence is, there will always be some who refuse to believe the verdicts of this Inquest......get over it everybody ! //

I don't refuse to believe any of it. I'm simply concerned that you are concentrating on only one aspect of it. Nothing to get over. That I'm used to.
My friend& his son was there o the day, the police had not got a clue what they were doing, ask any Liverpool Fans on here what they think, just a point, there is one crp newspaper that will never ever be welcomed in Liverpool, the lying, disgusting Sun.
The Sun is being slaughtered on FB.
Question Author
Ummmm...(15:13)....thats obvious but not to everybody it seems !
Just saying. ;o)
// A jury verdict is not a "truth".
Think Timothy Evans, just saying.//

why go back to Timothy Evans ?
think any IRA mainland 'bomber' apart from the Balcombe st gang.

None of them - Guildfor B'ham M62 'did it' by my god the idea that they did dies hard within the then police force. I am not sure if Retro scores on that one ....

Bernard Ingham has declined to apologise for briefing Mrs T with - well - lies.
Just as Taylor J declined to apologise for jailing the IRA bombers with the words: 'It is not my fault if the police lied to me'
- so that is OK then !

and yeah I agree the policemon the whole did a good job that day.
It is like demolishing a car with the passenger and then saying to the dead mans parents ' well the two in the back survived so i think I drove rather well actually '

Svejk - //Now we're getting down to it. //

Will any compensation even begin to repair the damage and loss suffered by these people? No.

Will compensation indicate to the world that their suffering is recognised, and they are owed something for the horrors inflicted on them by self-serving cowardly immoral state employees? Yes.

It's really not about the money Svejk.
good luck to them, i hope they get millions.
Is there any other way to compensate people for wrong doings? Money is the only way.

They've had 27 years of this. They had funerals to pay for. Children and been raised fatherless. Can you imagine becoming a single parent through no fault of your own? Can you imagine the devastation that the parents/siblings/children have gone through.

Give them the money and let the rest of their years be a tad easier.
