I believe one was found by the authorities after the Paris attack and another after yesterday's outrage in Brussels.
Could these be used in propaganda directed at potential suicide bombers? Something along the line of: Don't be the mug who deonates the vest. Your accomplices won't.

I doubt it would have any effect on their twisted little minds.
We could have a slogan there sandy. 'Don't invest if you wont divest'.
I don't think it was 'unused' as such, I think it was defective as it failed to go off.
the 'is' hierarchy are probably working on adapting the vests so that they can't be taken off without exploding
I just assumed they bottled it at the last minute.
If it was defective it should be fixed, and those arrested should be given the choice of being taken to waste ground and made to wear it and use it, or have their genitals slowly hacked off with a very blunt knife
For most of us who are reasonable thinkers (and want to live) your idea is sound.

Unfortunately we are dealing with fanatics who believe they are going to a better life with 70 Virgins etc. I dont think you will get through to them.

Hacking their gentials off with cheeswire might though :-)
So. The suggestion is to discourage potential bombers from aborting, and ensuring more innocent citizens become victims ?
Oh, and further to my idea, their families should be made to watch. I bet they would be crying for their mummy and opt for the genital option

It might sow a little seed of doubt about their comrades and what was planned, enough to get some thinking.
There is the possibliity the vest was defective, or that the attackers lost their bottle.

An equally likely reason is that it wasn't needed. A suicide pill used to be provided for undercover soldierson special operations. The operative would use it if they faced capture. The suicide vest is a crude version of that, with the added benefit of killing some of the enemy at the same time.
Any attackers that evaded capture in Paris and Brussels would discard the vest to make further attacks in future.

So I think your suggestion Sandy is a lousy one.
// Military and espionage organizations have provided their agents in danger of being captured by the enemy with suicide pills and devices which can be used in order to avoid an imminent and far more unpleasant death (such as through torture), or to ensure that he/she cannot be interrogated and forced to disclose secret information. As a result, lethal pills have important psychological value to persons carrying out missions with a high risk of capture and interrogation. //

I wasn't suggesting it was the complete answer, far from it.

Mills+. ?
Well you could try your theory out for yourself Sandy. Probably be able to bid for it on eBay soon. (Or possibly Bumblebee auctions.)
