I think the word 'banned' in the headline is misleading.

//An increasing number of public canteens, child daycare centres and schools have stopped serving sausages, bacon and ham over religious considerations.//
Funny old world right enough. Whatever happened to 'when in Rome...'?
This way lies madness.
Wiener Schnitzel, what next....
An increasing number of public canteens, child daycare centres and schools have stopped serving sausages, bacon and ham due to having no consideration whatsoever for the people who have eaten sausages, bacon and ham all their lives.

Germany can't function without pork!

Can school kids in the UK opt for it in the canteen at lunchtime?
that depends where the UK child is Sandy - some authorities (like this one) don't serve pork because monitoring what its religious adherent pupils are allowed to eat is in the "too difficult" box.

It shouldn't need to monitor daft dietary rules. If the pupil is told they aren't allowed to eat x then it is the pupil's responsibility not to be naughty and disobey their parents' daft instructions.
I think there are still places where you can buy pork outside school. And I'm pretty sure the vast majority of schools in Germany still serve it too.
It's happening much nearer home, trt. You'll find a few ABers think these things either don't matter or even are a bit of a wheeze.
//This way lies madness.//

Maybe, but it is definitely the road to far right extremism.
Removing pork dishes from menus shouldn't be a consideration. This way lies madness indeed.
removing muslims would be the better option...some chance
whatever happened to 'choice'? I guess that offends as well though.
the twists love their mickey and they are increasingly annoyed at immigrants telling them what to do so I doubt they'll tolerate this for long.
As Svejk would say, this is the wurst decision ever ;)
I don't believe it ( Victor Meldrew)

Is there any stats or corroboration on this story?

A German minister has claimed this, but this is based on what? I can't see anything in the report to back up his claim.
Gosh if that article does indeed say that Pork is banned in Germany (I don't speak the language either) won't it lead to a lot of unemployment and affect the tourist trade?
The Germans won't like this,When I lived there one of the best sellers in the food outlets was pork steaks.
