Complete over reaction.
^You wouldn't be saying that if he'd been right.... or would you? ;o)
With the benefit of cool hindsight, and the background information, it is very easy to judge the reactions of everyone as OTT but ...

If you were there, and you thought it was a potential terrorism attack - remember devices can be detonated with mobile phones - then who is to say you would not err on the side of caution, as the passenger and the airline did?
In these troubled times the passenger may consider himself lucky not to have been Smeatoed like the good citizens who tried to bomb Glasgow airport a few years ago.
I'm told that swollen nuts at altitude can be dangerous.

I wouldn't mind betting that there is at least one Muslim, on most flights leaving Britain on any given day. On the evidence of this case, we might as well ban Muslims from flying altogether.

People should examine their prejudices, and act rationally.
Mikey, //People should examine their prejudices, and act rationally.//

What would you have done if you'd, unwittingly, misread his message?
Nothing Naomi. I am not in the habit of sticking my nose into other peoples business. The man was entirely innocent.

I am not sure of your point here.

The man was not seen as a threat because of his faith - Christian - but because he appeared to be acting suspiciously with a mobile phone as a plane is getting ready to take off.

I see it less as an action motivated by religious prejudice, than simple caution in a perceived dangerous situation.
Mikey, If he had been up to no good, your business would have been the least of your worries!

Indeed he was - but that comes as a result of the hindsight we all enjoy sitting at our keyboards well after the event.

What if you had been there?
I assume from what Mikey said that if he suspected a fellow passenger was involved in terrorist activity, he would mind his own business and ignore it.
I find the whole thing a little far fetched. He just happened to read this passenger's message. He was being nosey!!
This is the sort of thing Viz would make up

I think Gromit is winding you up - at least I hope he is :-)

Ich > This is the sort of thing Viz would make up

Do you read Viz ich? If so, did you read the one a few months ago based on the plane crash in the Andes - cannibalism but only of certain body parts yuk!
I must admit I haven't read it for a while ...
-SharonA-, if you suspected someone of terrorist activity, would you ignore it?
it was a hard call but a call which had to be made, the guy was innocent , yes but the other nosey passenger was correct and did the right thing.

arent we told to make that call ?

“That guy doesn’t know me and within two minutes he’s judging me,” he told the Guardian. “Even if I was a Muslim, it was pretty unfair the way I was treated. I don’t think anyone, irrespective of their religion should be treated in such a way.
“If we keep on giving into this kind of bigotry and irrational fear, I dare say that the terrorists will have achieved their aim.”

The above is an excerpt from the link provided. It would appear that he was not as cruelly tagged 'a nut job'. He sounds fairly rational in comparison to some 'travellers'.
