On the News Section we have seen Katie Hopkin's opinions both criticised or supported, but whatever your opinion of her, I am sure most of us will wish to convey all our good wishes along with every success on coming out of this surgery successfully cured of her dreadful epilepsy?

Get well soon Katie.

You've only got to remember the vile way the lefties "celebrated" Maggie Thatcher's death to realise what an unsavoury bunch of miserable excuses for normal human beings they are.

Errrrr...isn't this a Q&A site?
Well said aog .......
The nature of debate on the AB is that threads develop naturally, as points are raised, debated, and then fall away as other points are debated.

It would have been perfectly possible for every post to say something along the lines of 'I wish her well', or alternatively, 'I don't wish her well' - but that would not have made for as interesting and diverting a discussion as this has become.
jack - you and I have cross-posted, and once again, to the ire of some for reasons I have yet to fathom, we are in agreement concerning the nature of debates on the forum.
AOG

You opened a thread about Katie Hopkins to allow people to wish Katie Hopkins well.

That's admirable.

However, you are not allowed to dictate what goes into threads on AnswerBank. Ms Hopkins is free to say whatever she wishes, as to are you on that Eastenders thread.

We are also allowed to discuss Ms Hopkins and if you feel that some of the things said are disrespectful, it may be because Ms Hopkins has earned our disrespect.

If you want a thread which is 100% in sympathy with the subject, you're going to have to wait until someone who is universally admired to fall ill, such as Maggie Smith, Judi Dench

...or Doreen Lawrence...
I maybe shouldn't have laughed at that, sp.
Nor me sp ... but I did as well!!
LoL, sp......

That's a pretty explosive can of worms, you have just lobbed into the thread...:o)
Bearing in mind what goes on unabated in AB some of the latest comments here are mind-boggling!
Any offers to join me in the Anderson Shelter at this juncture?
Or wait until she dies and gets minimum 6 RIP threads.

I find Katie a good read and wish her well. I don't agree with everything she says but she, unlike the many others who are brighter or equally capable of getting on their laptop and writing - has actually done it.
AOG

And another thing...if everyone posting on this thread said, "Oh I wish her well" what would be the point of it existing?

Seriously.

When David Bowie passed away, people could post things on AB relating to their 'relationship' with him and his work.

Things like, "Oh, I remember when I first heard Starman" etc.

There's a poin to that.

When some 'commentator' goes into hospital, exactly what is the point of saying, "I hope she survives"?

It's meaningless.

Unless there's some cosmic spirit waiting to hear how many good wishes she gets, to determine her fate, there's absolutely no reason to post good wishes to someone who will never read them.

For the sake of her family and friends it would be good for her to have a speedy and complete recovery.

... and elsewhere.
sp @ 16.46. At last some sense among the nonsense.
divebuddy - //I find it amazing that AH can wax so lyrical about how threads naturally take the course they do; and that's OK. Only yesterday he was telling people what they should or shouldn't post about on a thread about Scott of the Antarctic. //

I was not 'telling' anyone 'anything'.

I merely put forward the option that the OP was actually about the discussion of Captain Scott in a school setting, rather than a debate about Captain Scott himself - a point that was agreed with by the OP.

You really might like to try and stop reading what I say, misunderstanding it in a way that makes me appear to be something I am not - and then posting to say so.

The key part of that phrase is 'might like to ...' - in case you think I am 'telling you' to do something.

A small difference - but an important one I think

/// AOG - In posting this thread you also gave people the opportunity NOT to wish her well.
It's the way this website works......you can't dictate the responses you will find acceptable, I'm afraid. ///

Not in this case, as usual you have it completely wrong in your persistent quest to have a dig at me.

This is what I asked, those who wish to convey good wishes could, but if they didn't wouldn't it have been more polite and to just not join in the thread?

/// but whatever your opinion of her, I am sure most of us will wish to convey all our good wishes along with every success on coming out of this surgery successfully cured of her dreadful epilepsy? ///

Just the same as if an ABer, wishes to convey their good wishes at Christmas for example, it is not a vehicle to jump on so as to send hatred messages to that person.

AOG

Christmas wishes are different. We are wishing each other 'Merry Christmas'.

This thread is wishing someone who is not a memb...

Hang on.

How do we know Katie isn't a member of AB???

AOG...are you Katie Hopkins.

Be honest.
AOG, I find it intriguing that you are so supportive of a deliberately inflammatory commentator!

AOG, I don't wish her anything as I don't know her and her writing plays no place in my life. Does that mean I am not entitled to post my thoughts on your OP?

To pre-edit responses as you seem to be wanting to do would result in AB being a very dull place filled with forelock tuggers and yes men........I doubt that is what you really want.

This wasn't intended to be a debate just an informative message to give fellow ABers a chance to wish Ms Hopkins a full recovery, just shows how nasty and bitter the left can be.

Perhaps later you will come and request that ABers keep on track especially if they disagree with your criteria.
