This is the blueprint for the eussr empire...another reason why we need to get out and stay out...so we can run our country not them
I would like to know why we cannot 'opt' out of council waste collection 'services', with a suitable reduction in our council tax. Then hire our own privately run waste companies (who are subject to the same eco legislation as the councils) at half the cost that the local authorities manage to impose. Biffa spring to mind here.
we DO pay for bin rounds
and pay and pay and pay
and all the councillors do wid the money is go on jollys
Another reason to exit the EU
What a load of rubbish.
So what is rubbish Canary?
Err i think its a lame attempt at humour..
"It suggests local councils should introduce..."
How on earth do you manage to translate that into "says we should..."?
The EU guide says that local authorities 'play an important role' in taxing people to meet environment objectives. The guide goes on to set out, what it describes as, its sustainable roadmap for growth and jobs. Jobs for the boys scheme and guess who pays.
///It suggests local councils should introduce a congestion charge for private cars in 'urban centres', which it says will not only raise funds but will also 'send out a clear' message to 'polluters'.///
"It suggests" refers to the congestion charge not recycling.

///The unelected EU bureaucrats also make the remarkable claim that a new charge for collecting recyclable waste will help encourage sustainable living.///

Should or could ...meh...makes no difference...the more of their laws, dictats, suggestions etc etc they can have in place now , the easier for them to control their empire once its final and their flag is flying above all others...
then they're not going to be telling us to behave like Europe, they're telling Europe to behave like us.
Talk about totally missing the point.

The UK Government has introduced congestion charging. The UK Government has introduced recycling taxes. So the EU Directive is not aimed at US, because we are already doing those things. It is aimed at other countries who do not have a congestion charge and reclying tax.

So the EU is not telling us what to do. It is telling the rest of Europe to be more like the British.

To cite this as another reason to leave the EU is just daft.
"Talk about totally missing the point. "

yeah, lets, as its you whose missed the point...

"Drivers could be charged for driving through all towns and cities in the UK under crippling new plans being suggested by EU bureaucrats.
It suggests local councils should introduce a congestion charge for private cars in 'urban centres',

congestion charging isnt in all towns/citys/urban centre here, and thats one of the things theyre suggesting for all the slaves in the empire, now or later makes no difference
We do indeed already pay for both. We pay rates (I think they use another name for it these days) for the weekly bin collection (which we are then denied) and we pay road fund licence (I think they use another name for it these days) to use the roads (some of which we are now denied access to or double charged using some feeble excuse such as congestion). So not only were we there first, political scum has used it to abuse the public already. The EU has some catching up to do.
Baz,
You missed the point.
Drivers could be charged for driving through any town in the UK now, if the local authority decide to opt for it. And that is under UK legislation, not a EU diktat.
The sooner we leave the better imo. We have to meet EU green targets and yet the MEP's are not taxed on their carbon footprint moving offices and flying home every weekend.
oh dear
gromit stop trying to deflect the obvious...

you are the only person thats missed and continues to miss the point

the fact we could be now is not relevant..
the eussr are the ones mooting it here in order to meet its emissions and lunatic targets etc, we are not talking about my or your local council ...and you can bet your bottom dollar if we stay in the eussr then they will , like every other crackpot idea of theres, enforce it and make it a law to foist on every european city/town it rules and dictates to
Baz,
But it's not their crackpot idea. It's our crackpot idea.
The EU cannot impose it if we have already imposed it ourselves.
