/// THE half-time routine saw dancers in an X formation, an apparent tribute to activist Malcolm X. ///

/// He opposed Martin Luther King’s non-violent approach to US integration and wanted his followers to create their own nation, free of whites. ///

sp1814 - //In front of a TV audience of one billion, her dancers paraded in outfits similar to controversial activists the Black Panthers. //

Obviously these people have never attended a heavy metal gig - almost everyone is dressed in black!!

What planet are these people on?

Next week, tune in when every gay nightclub in the UK is shut down as patrons turn up dressed in homage to disgraced homosexual entertainer Liberace!!!

Sheeesh!!!!
Formation dancers have long used the 'X' formation amongst others.
Something else that's been blow out of context by some clown trying to cause unrest.
SP...or bullets down the side of their costumes either !

I can't see any resemblance whatsoever.

This reminds me of an old joke, that I have recounted here on AB before ::

Its about an old lady that dials 999, complaining about a man who is exposing himself in the window of the flat opposite.

The Police arrive in force and find the old lady sitting on a chair by the window, sniffling into a hanky.

The Police look out the window, up and down and side to side, but can't see anything amiss.

"Oh no" says the old lady, "you have to stand on the chair!
Exactly, just something....
'Blowing in the wind' , but..
'We shall overcome' , for...
'War, what is it good for?' , I ask you..
'Where is the love?'.
Why not! Any place will do as long as folks will listen.

Methinks too much is being made of this anyway.
That is the trouble in evil world Mam, some go out of their way to cause trouble.
// Is A Sporting Venue The Proper Place To Deliver A Political Statement//
Yes, any place to bring to the fore the way that some black people are still treated in the land of the free.
It's all a matter of viewpoint..it must have looked like a + to half of the audience.
Looked very much like a performance with a political message, and why not!

Obviously I am wrong though!

/// In front of a TV audience of one billion, her dancers paraded in outfits similar to controversial activists the Black Panthers. ///

/// I am almost certain that the Black Panthers never once went out in black leather hotpants, and six inch disco heels. ///

/// I'm happy to be proven wrong...but there it is. ///

Wrong I'm afraid, read it again, 'similar' is not the 'same'.

Yes nothing controversial whatsoever, notice the Black Panther Berets and the the message on the poster.

Why even the BBC reported on it.

I expect the Black and White minstrels wouldhave caused an even bigger stir.

Is the message calling for justice for Mario Woods such a bad thing?

Oh, and see if you can watch Beyonce's video for 'Formation'. Song is average (on first hearing), but the visuals should be an eye-opener for you.

Lays claim for being video of the year, despite it only being February.

Astonishingly good.

No a sporting event is not the place to make a political statement.

Because there is a selection of still photographs of the incident in question - I can see those.
