Lord Lucan was officially confirmed dead today, and his son can now hold the title. As there is doubt as to Lucans innocense of his Nannys murder and wifes attempted murder, should the title die with him. Why should someone benefit from the title of a discredited peer. Opinions?

Baldric, as you say a body hasn't been found, so is a death certificate without a cause of death on it legal?
So 500 years from now he still can't be officially dead ? Strange system.
I think he can be "declared officially dead" as opposed to "Officially declared dead"; subtle difference.
No need for the title to disappear.
Whilst, on the face of it, Lord Lucan killed Sandra Rivett, the facts about what actually happened that night have always been a little unclear.
I wonder what the death duties will be?

Looks as if it could be

///2014 The Presumption of Death Act enables Lord Bingham to apply to have Lucan declared dead so he can inherit the family title.///

From my earlier Link.
Quite, jno.

wasnt he 60000 in debt (in 1974 prices), would his estate be worth much?
Debt is a badge of honour now barney. The country is trillions in debt, and no one bats an eyelid. Just looks for new and exciting ways to increase it.
