If so, they may be the living proof that there's something to this chaps theory. :-)http://www.msn.com/en-gb/weather/topstories/humans-could-evolve-webbed-feet-if-sea-levels-rise-scientist-claims/ar-CCs8ri?li=AA9SkIr

Whenever we visit friends in Norfolk we're always greeted with a 'high six'
Doubt any of us will be around long enough to find out .....in the long term !

In the short term .....how many ABers from Norfolk ??
Question Author
High six. :-))
Didn't Ann Boleyn have 6 fingers on each hand?
Just the one hand, I believe ....the left one

No ready to wear gloves for her, then?
I suspect Dr Skinner was/is a Stingray fan.

Earworm now. Marina. Aqua Marina.
We're all going to become Aquaphibians. ;o)
To get webbed feet as normal there would need to be a propensity for webbed footed folk to survive to have children and ensure their survival, whilst non-webbed footed folk were less likely to survive to do so. Which sort of makes this guys claim seem a bit of a flight of fancy.
You never know, anything can happen in the next half hour. :-P
I am reminded of a story that Jeremy Clarkson tells, of a time that he testing a new car in Norfolk.

He pulled into a very out-of-the way petrol station....you know the sort....with just two pumps and one of those little wooden shacks.

The elderly attendant filled the car up and Clarkson followed him to the shack to pay.

Clarkson pulled out his wallet and gave the man a credit card. The man studied it very carefully. He then pressed a button on the till and a drawer shot out. He carefully put the credit card into the slot where the 5 pound notes go, and then promptly shut the drawer again, and said "Good Day Sir!"
I think it's a propaganda trick to keep people out.

and how many can read and type ?

sandy - human evolution is priddy slow - four generation in a century
unlike bacteria - one generation an hour so it is reasonable to see evolution in them under the microscope

so this is unlikely to be as a result of envirnoment and evolution

generically determined disease do arise in small limited populations
and this is said to be where there is fast expamsion of that population and so darwinian pressures DON'T apply ( !!)
This meant to account for the Tay Sachs in Polish Jews who had a pop explosion in the seventeenth centuries
Porphyria in the Dutch population in Sarth Efrica - the carrier is identifiable in Jan van Niekerk passenger manifest 1658
and Ellis van Crefeld syndrome in australian aborigines ( no explosion but pop density too low )
but NOT huntington's chorea in New England ( founder effect )

I 'think' ( hahahaha) that the Norfolk observation is more likely to follow the Ellis model

very technical answer - but the question -why do some diseases persist in populations considering they are SO destructive ? is an interesting one and stretched more intellectually minded people than me
and yes Anne Boleyn DID have six fingers on each hand
AND her favourite colour was black ( a v v expensive dye then and DIE she did ! )
and the girl was believed to have bewitched the King
who shouted 'The King's Botch ! ' at her wedding ceremony

but I am not sure if she came from Norfolk
the King didnt shout
the crowd outside did

damn sozzza

Isn't it the way of the world that neighbour runs down neighbour? You couldn't believe a word the Suffolk Gazette printed about Norfolk.
I always thought it was rumour about Nan Bullen's sixth finger and warts on her neck - both were considered signs of witchcraft.

The Bullen descendants believe it
I met one and he went guddle guddle at me with his sixth finger

[ actually he asked how on earth I knew he was related as there had been a well described linguistic mutation ( hooray ! ) in his name )
