Robbing from people who have already lost so much - you can't get lower than that!

One of our patients died recently. When his wife was sitting with him during his final hours, their home was broken into and everything was robbed, including Christmas presents. Police said it wasn't an opportunist, but someone who knew she was out.

Some people are truly sickening.
A despicable act. There was something in the news yesterday about biker gangs patrolling the streets of somewhere Opp North, and this was with the blessing of the local Police apparently (!)

I would have thought that our troops could play a useful role here.

I posted a link to the bikers about half an hour ago. As far as I'm aware the armed forces have been drafted in to help with the disaster.
Thanks Naomi...I will look for your post.
I am surprised that mikey suggested using the troops to patrol the streets for looters.

He would be among the first to condemn any soldier who happened to use necessary force to append one of these cretins.

Cries of "fascists", "police state" one would hear.
Did you get a new wooden spoon for Christmas, AOG?
AOG...drivel. Our Troops are already doing a sterling jobs in the floods. which I and everybody else is very grateful for. Stop stirring !
Mikey...when I read that about the biker gangs...(in some Lancashire + Yorkshire villages, here oop North...can't say I've ever heard anyone say that).it reminded me of way back when...was it Rolling Stones who got some Hell's Angels to do security for one of their concerts?

And that went well, Bathy :0/
Bathy....the incident that your refer to was the Altamont Free Concert in 1969 ::

I'm fairly confident that this won't happen Oop North !
heheheh......d'uh me, eh? And that link took me to Wikipedia wanting more money off me!! I've already given 'em a fiver...;)

Both you and I wasn't referring to the work done by the troops in the floods, it was your suggestion for the use of patrolling troops to apprehend the looters that I was answering to.

It was indeed The Stones who asked the UK Hells Angels to provide security of their free Hyde Park Concert in 1969 - all passed off peacefully.

So The Stones asked the American Angels to provide a similar service at their Altamont concert - which did not pass off peacefully.

The problem was, confusing the UK Angels with their American counterparts.

The UK Angels are a largely law-abiding biker group who do behave with appropriate 'British' restraint.

Not so their American counterparts who are a very different breed - the lawless outlaws of fame and legend - hence the mayhem caused by far too much alcohol, and lots of contaminated LSD.

To confuse the UK Angels of 1969 with the US Angels of 1969 is rather like confusing a spaniel with a pit bull - they are both dogs but ....
Fairy nuff Andy.
I'd be surprised if any of our bikers were a day under 60 ;)

Many a good tune left to be played on an old crankshaft Bathy !
I'm not sure who is confused but I doubt very much that the Stones asked the Angels to be security.

''the problem was, confusing the UK Angels with their American counterparts.''

I also doubt Rock Scully confused the two groups.
There happens to be a very active biker group consisting of ex servicemen and affiliated to the Royal British Legion plus IPA Biker group. All pretty handy blokes and blokesses to have around.
Can't find a link to that peaceful Stones concert,.....seems to have been swamped by the US one :(
