// Tyson Fury was crowned the new heavyweight champion of the world as he ended Wladimir Klitschko's nine-year reign with a slick points win in Dusseldorf.

The self-styled 'Gypsy King' bullishly claimed he expected an easy fight against the WBA, WBO and IBF title holder as he attempted to become Britain's eighth world heavyweight champion at Dusseldorf's ESPRIT Arena. //

We who appreciate the effort and skill required to attain the skills and bravery required to become world champion, should be left alone to congratulate Fury for a great result, the ones who dislike the boxing should start a thread of their own to moan. Well done Tyson Fury..
AOG - when you watch it live, and I'm talking semi pro matches here, you don't get the close ups and the replays so it doesn't seem as bad.

But as I've already said, I'm not a fan of boxing. I don't necessarily think it should be banned but I do think it's a bit barbaric.

That's the bit I agree with Togo, there is massive effort and skill involved.
I could punch someone's lights out, and I have not had any training whatsoever.
You could but how many rounds could you actually do?
AOG spoken like a true pacifist and self appointed defender of humanity. Remember some can punch back.
ANOTHEOLDGIT, would you have been prepared to enter the ring with a trained boxer?
A big shock, and well done him, but what an embarrassment to have a British World Champion as stupid as he has been in the run up to the fight.

But £30 million will buy him & his family a few new caravans, maybe start paying taxes, and keep off other peoples land & car-parks, like the M25 service station yesterday!
trt - you have in depth knowledge of Tyson Fury's tax affairs?
He's from a well known family of Irish Travelers -you know Ummmm those Tax Paying law abiding bastions of society.
And? He's also a famous professional boxer. Very unlikely he gets paid in cash!!!
## ummmm: trt -

Not personally, but I know how gypsy's live & have seen how they have, ripped off people, and ruined peoples lives, land & property.
You have no idea about Tax do you LOL! Lester Piggot was a professional jockey but he ended up doing time inside for not paying his taxes ( as did comedian Ken Dodd)
trt - this thread is about boxing...not travelers.

Retro - that's not even worthy of me giving my opinion.
Retro......Ken Dodd was acquitted of tax evasion.
He never did time.

Well he wouldn't Sqad would he, Scousers never do!
^^LOL
Ummmmm

"Retro - that's not even worthy of me giving my opinion."

PMSL ..........
You're clearly easily amused, Retro.
I don't think it was a massive shock I thought it would go all the way but I expected Wlad to win on points.
I think it will be a bigger shock if he is still world champ when he fights Deontay Wilder, who despite being more open than Albert Arkwright's shop will at least come to fight. Hopefully Anthony Joshua will eventually wipe the floor with all of them.

(There hasn't been a decent champion since 2002)
