///nothing in common between them/// except that they were BOTH Protests. a Protest does not have to be a riot which in my opinion only turns normal people against the protesters and their aims.
To be fair I'll bet those Veterans could have caused a lot more mayhem had they wanted to!
Apart from being protests, they have nothing in common.
The DM could have chosen any other protest that was not violent to compare to the protest about the Army chap, but cleverly choose one involving the immigrant issue, thus bringing immigration and the refugee crisis up for discussion. Rather clumsy on the DMs part.
If you read the opinion piece they actually compare 3 protests and mention that the steel workers protest was also dignified.
Like Mikey, I cannot see the point of the comparison. To me it is not comparing like with like. Anarchists have a riot, and soldiers have an orderly parade. Both behaving as we would expect them to.
If this comparison is supposed to prove that anarchists and trained soldiers are worlds apart then I suppose it does.
But is is so bleedin obvious they are different what is the point?
You could compare the soldiers with EDL marchers with the same conclusion. But why would anyone bother?
