One of the migrants currently in Hungary died yesterday – a 51 year old Pakistani. If he was fleeing the war in Syria, as we’re told by some here that all of these people are, surely he was heading the wrong way?

Watching the news last night, an awful lot of those people didn't appear to be of Middle Eastern extraction.

He was probably hoping to buy one of the Syrian passports that have, strangely, appeared on the black market in Austria/Germany recently.
Hypo....Pakistan was born in blood. Millions of people lost their lives in bitter fighting, after Independence was granted to India. Pakistan is a highly unstable country, where the Taliban still control certain areas. Not sure I would want to live there.

//Or would you try to escape to a place of safety and try to rebuild your lives ?//

I would take my family and escape to safety. I would consider my salvation complete once I had reached sanctuary and be very thankful I had spared my family's life.
I would then accept the asylum process and go where I am directed thankful that my family are still safe.
I would not kill my wife and baby sons by putting them on an overcrowded dinghy because I am not allowed to enter any country under MY terms and conditions.
They wanted to go to Canada. Well they couldn't. Canada was not prepared to take them.
They should just be thankful they have survived a hell hole and escaped it.
So its a life in a refugee camp then Retro ? People have been living in refugee camps in Palestine for 3 generations now. Not much of a prospect, as I am sure you will agree.

Mikey, you are unrealistic.

Two go's & they couldn't make it, I think Angela has cracked it.

/// Naomi...you are clearly using this chap to try to prove that many of the desperate people arriving in Greece, and other places are not really fleeing for their lives. ///

And are not you and the media using the body of a little child, to tug on heart strings and making us believe that if we now let in the hordes, there will not be any further poor souls drowning and being washed up on some shore line?

/// My point about Malala is valid.....if she had died in Hungary, instead of becoming famous for being shot in Pakistan by the Taliban. ///

Famous for being shot by the Taliban???? What a strange choice of words, surely if that is only what she is famous for, there are plenty of our own young men who were not only shot by the Taliban but blown to pieces as well.

/// I have asked this question before. If you and your young family were living in fear of your lives, whether it is Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc, would you stay and be killed ? Or would you try to escape to a place of safety and try to rebuild your lives ? ///

I along with the rest of the British people, did not try to escape during WW2, we stayed and defended our once great country.

Mikey, your point about Malala isn't valid. She wasn't trying to escape.
This father that the media are feeling so sorry for, returned to his so called dangerous war torn country so as to bury his wife and two children.

Seems strange that he alone survived, he now has to carry the guilt for the rest of his life.

Aog, exactly!

mikey, do you think the father of the child washed up on the beach did the right thing by putting them in a plastic toy to cross the sea?

I don't... assuming it was his decision to do it, then he is culpable for the death of his family.
Whiskeyron. You are probably right! And we are making it easy. We need a government with a backbone, a strong leader and we need to stop trying to please everybody.

*** Himmler greatly admired Islam which he called 'Mohammedanism'. He considered it a warrior's religion. He noted that under Islam there will be 'beautiful women in paradise for those who die in battle'. He also said that "Islam is a practical and sympathetic religion for soldiers." An author studying Himmler points out, "Many of today's suicide bombers – often sexually frustrated young males – have also deluded themselves into believing that 72 smiling "Huris" or virgin beauties are waiting for them in paradise." [Vermaat] One of Himmler's closest associates, his Finnish masseur, devoted an entire chapter in his book to Himmler and his infatuation with Islam. [Kersten] ***

Are you seriously suggesting that thousands upon thousands of migrants should be allowed to roam through the whole of Europe totally uncontrolled or checked. There has to be a refugee camp first.
You are allowing a potential European pandemic. These people have to be checked out. What if they came from Angola with E-Bola or other deadly diseases.
That is not PANIC. That is being realistic. If peoples brains are ruled by their hearts on the basis of a tragic emotive photograph then Europe will go to,hell in a hand cart. Surely you do not advocate anarchy whereby these migrants can just do as they please,go where they want?
A refugee camp is better than dying in a leaky overcrowded dinghy isn't it?
I saw a family on the news who had a child no older than six months (plus other children) they said it hadn't put them off and they were going to give it a go in a few days. Crazy.
Please search facebook for 'a syrian surgeons journey to europe, as it happens'. The surgeon is Mouhannad & just been trafficked to Greece from Turkey. His story was on Sky News but I cant find a link.

He says lots of professionals are trafficked to Europe or they die by bombing in Syria.
Describing the migrants/ refugees as "little more than cowards" seems a bit OTT, AOG.
Given up with Facebook Tambourine, full of sob stories, and bleeding hearts about this about this whole thing. It is a massive problem that is rapidly escalating and I am genuinely more fearful about this than anything else that has happened in my lifetime
