How cool is this guy ...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-33741380

Every year, he takes part in the Pride Parade ... on his mobility scooter !!

He carries a banner saying " I'm the oldest gay in the village".

In the past, he has been given a criminal conviction for being gay. This weekend, he married his BF, to coincide with Pride Weekend.

That's the way to go when you're in your 90s!

Buzz off, Sqad....we're on track for the spa day......and with Sandy too by the looks of it......x
It doesn't surprise me that some gay people aren't a fan of gay pride events themselves. All the same, at their core it's just a celebration of who you are (albeit perhaps a little exaggerated), and a rejection of any reason to feel ashamed about it, as has been the case in living memory.

Divebuddy -- if you can't see that your argument is equally valid (which is to say, not valid at all) upon interchanging homo- and hetero, then you need to look at it again.
AOG and retrocop have suggested that at some point in the future, what is seen as abhorrent now (paedophilia) could become tolerated, even perhaps legalised (AOG, correct me if I've misrepresented you).

The problem with this idea, is that as a society we would have to change our idea of what constitutes sexual assault, and we would have to stop seeing babies and young children as victims.

Can anyone sensibly see that happening?

Another very pertinent point that everyone who posits this idea seems to forget...

Parents.

Will we ever get to a state where parents accept that a grown man having sex with their seven year old son or daughter will be allowed to do so without any come back?

C'mon...let's put this ridiculous notion away, and admit why people push this - it's because they want to suggest that any move towards gay equality is 'the beginning of the slippery slope'.

It...is...not...
Talbot, Yes. And I expect that anyone who was a victim of homosexual rape, especially if they weren't actually homosexual themselves, wouldn't be too interested in splitting hairs as to whether they were a victim of homosexuality or not. They just might think that if that guy wasn't a homosexual, it wouldn't have happened.

So women rape victims just might think that if that guy wasn't a heterosexual, it wouldn't have happened.

?
Bizarre way of thinking
Actually, AOG now makes a fair point...I could easily see the age of consent changing at some point in the future. Conditionally if a sixteen year old had sex with a fifteen year old, it might not be considered an offence.

But that has nothing to do with paedophilia (which is the sexual attractive to children who are prepubescent).

/// You can't be a 'victim of homosexualty' - as I pointed out to AOG, that means all female rape victims are 'victims of heterosexuality'. ///

There are many 'victims' of homosexuality, far to many to quote.

Of course female rape victims are 'victims of heterosexuality' unless of course they are raped by a Lesbian, why would a gay man rape a woman?

And although you fail to admit it, if a man is raped by another man that rapist is indeed a homosexual is he not?
Lust has precious little to do with Rape.....it's about power and control.

Big Bubba in the cell-block showers is likely to punch your lights out if you suggested he was gay.....despite his fondness for a little guy-on-guy action...

-Talbot-

/// if you google rape. It seems that there are an awful lot of victims of heterosexuality ///

You are simply stating an obvious fact.

But what difference does that make to the false suggestion that there are no victims of homosexuality?

Outlaw heterosexuality now!
People who murder men or women are murderers regardless of whether they are gay or straight

People who steal from men or women are thieves regardless of whether they are gay or straight

people who rape men or women are rapists regardless of whether they are gay or straight

no?
divebuddy - Does that mean that you agree with the fact that the 'perception' is different from the 'actual truth'?

So if Boy George nicks a Whisper for his mate George Micheal...Tesco are the victim of homosexual crime are they?
I don't think it necessarily means that if a man is raped by another man then it stands that the rapist is homosexual. I would say in some cases it is done to add further humiliation to the act of rape if the victim is known to be heterosexual.

Talbot - sounds like a "Careless Whisper" to me.

...Sorry.
Retrochic

/// I know some Gay people who would not been seen dead at a Gay Pride Event -and not because they are 'in the closet', because they say it gives the impression that to act outrageously camp like they do at these events is how Gays are -and the majority aren't (their words not mine). ///

Totally agree Retrochic, all the gays that I know or have known are no different from the rest of us, they see no reason to join parades dressed up ridiculously, waving banners and shouting from the roof tops, "Look at us we are Gay".

Wow, after I don't know how many posts, I am back where I started.

I realise it's a bit late now after my clumsy wording, or the fact that there are some folks who relish in 'misunderstanding' what has been said, BUT when I said that there are no 'victims' of Homosexuality, I meant to imply that there are no victims in Homosexual relationships....whereas a Paedophile can't have a relationship, in the same terms of mutual consent and understanding, and that those 'relationships' are the ones which create victims.
Have you ever taken part in *any* sort of Carnival, AOG?
