“…take or use most or all of (something) in an unfair or selfish way.” Please explain, Gromit, what is selfish or unfair about wanting to remain in a home which you have bought, may possibly have raised a family in, have adapted to your tastes and requirements and which you may like to living in. Unless, of course, you believe that all housing stock should...

Now who would have thought that?
Should move to the Netherlands then, AOG, if you want it crowded.
It's crowded in SOME cities and towns and their immediate suburbs. But we're not overcrowded generally.
Wow, we have the third largest population in Europe, how absolutely shocking.

When did we reach that milestone? - About 1850!
"Recent figures from the Office for National Statistics showed the UK population grew by more than 400,000 last year.

Over half of the staggering increase - the same as a city the size of Manchester'

From the ONS:
For Greater Manchester the 2001 mid-year estimate was 2,516,100 and the 2011 Census figure is 2,682,500, which is a rise of 166,400 or 6.6 per cent.

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Population of the Netherlands 16.8 million

Population of the UK 64.8million.
That doesn't give population density AOG, which is what your thread is about.
Yes AOG, but they're very 'huggy'.
It isnt crowded where I live now!! it hasn't been crowded anywhere that I have ever lived!! I am surround by miles and miles of vast open spaces, fields and countryside, mountains and rivers. Of course many cities are overcrowded, that is just the nature of cities! always has been and always will be!
Go to Singapore if you want to see overcrowding.

UK, 688 people per square mile.

Germany, 589 people per square mile.

France, 311 people per square mile.

/// UK is about 94,000 square miles and now houses 64.8million - a 12.7 per cent share of the EU total - giving it a population density of 688 people per square mile. ///

/// By contrast, Germany, which is 138,000 square miles big with 81.2million residents has a density rate of 589. ///

/// And France, more than double the size of the UK at 211,000 square miles, has 66million inhabitants at a rate of just 311 per square mile. ///
And Holland?
Off to France with you then AOG - enjoy.

/// Go to Singapore if you want to see overcrowding. ///

Yes, and it's more overcrowded in a rush hour tube carriage, than on an urban bus.
Just because we have more people per square mile than France and Germany does not mean we are overcrowded. That would only work if France and Germany were overcrowded, which they are not.
I've done it for you AOG:
Netherlands 1,259 / sq m.
-- answer removed --
Netherlands, 1259 Belgium 889, Jersey 2016, per square mile.
Is ANOHEOLDGIT telling us to get to France...
