//they probably did it during a "brain storming" exercise//

you probably haven't attended an event for some years as you'd know you can't say that anymore. if you're looking for blue sky thinking, the phrase is now "idea shower".
// I visit go kart tracks and never been offered a balaclava so it must have been premeditated. //

I have just visited several Go Kart Equipment websites, and 'balaclava head socks' seem to be a standard accessory.

crikey New Judge - for a moment then i thought i had written that .

I couldn't agree more .
Another possibility of it's origins was probably from a session of
' blue sky thinking '
peculiar thing to do, though I suspect there's a lot of it about. They may have thought there was something to be learnt from the exercise, or they may just have been getting in some bullying practice. The real mistake was putting it on Instagram. Who thought that was a good idea?
Gromit

/// It sounds bad, but we do not know the context of the film. ///

/// 8 seconds without knowing what happened before and after, it is not fair to judge. ///

The BBC link failed to show an image of the event. but the image below is enough to know what a sick representation of an ISIS type execution it portrays, I have no wish to see what happened before or after.

Aren't they for wannabe posh people?
remember, aog, there was no actual execution to see. All they had was a coat hanger. The employee is still alive, if unemployed.

It's the formal sacking session with ritual handing out of P45s you really wouldn't want to see. Like Chuck Connors in Branded.

"idea shower" ?
shut that door - really ?
loq
Yes I do know of the embargo on the phrase "brain storm", mushroom. I also know that it emanates from the idea that such a phrase may offend those suffering from epilepsy or some other brain disorder. Of course anybody with any knowledge of epilepsy knows that attacks are no more caused by a storm in the brain than an “idea shower” is caused by water on the brain. But never mind.
I'm sitting here scratching my head (perhaps that's not the right term to use) wondering why they got fired for this silly little escapade. Is it because it might offend the very small group of relatives of people who have been beheaded, or that it might offend a much larger group of people in some way related to the beheaders?
stuey, they got fired for having, and demonstrating, poor judgement.
yes, a team-building session that shows you've built a team of clots can only end one way. The fooishness lay in publishing the results. Sessions like this usually imply some confidentiality. Telling Instagram about it was a misjudgment.
OK
most seem more outraged at this than the actual IS beheadings, just a thought.
And we'll continue to silently tip-toe around the very large elephant in the room which represents the fact that they got fired because the stunt might offend the Muslim community.
If the instagram had been about raping a woman, or man, molesting a child, attacking someone old or disabled, in fact acting out any unpleasant act, the result would have been the same.
I wholeheartedly agree with New Judge about 'team building exercises'
The curse of the modern age :-)
Sacking these people seems appropriately ridiculous
in the 1990s just before privatisation, just about every middle manager in the rail industry attended team-building events called "leadership 5000" (meaning the 5000 managers at that level - the top level attended "leadership 500). as each batch returned after their course, word got around about the content, which included some ridiculous role-playing. this encouraged later attendees to take with them props and costumes to help with the role play, and as time went on the sessions became more and more over the top. at this point, the press were alerted and printed lurid tales of debauched behaviour by railway staff - and completely ignored the context which had led to it.
stuey - //And we'll continue to silently tip-toe around the very large elephant in the room which represents the fact that they got fired because the stunt might offend the Muslim community. //

There is no 'elephant in the room' here.

This has nothing to do with the potential offence to the Muslim community who, by the way, are equally disgusted by the behaviour of extremists using their faith as a cover for their heinous crimes.

These individuals were sacked fore behaving in an ianappropriate fashion, and then posting their crass absence of judgement on the internet, which n turn brought their employer's reputation into disrepute, and that is a dismissble offence for which they were ... dismissed.

To try and turn that into a PC gesture is really stretching the situation out of all recognition.
I would like to know -

What drugs were administered to these people to make them believe that this was in any way an acceptable way for grown-ups to behave/

Where can I get some!!!

Their industrial-strength mind-altering properties need further exploration!!
