Aaaah, the irony of AOG claiming something ISN'T racist.
Where the public are allowed access to arms, this sort of thing becomes possible more frequently. But it's a different country's choice. If they want a fearful society rather than a feel safer one; it only affects the rest of us if those easily obtainable arms are easily smuggled elsewhere in the world.

/// Yes AOG it can happen here but gun availability means it's rare. ///

Maybe more rare than in the USA, but then look at the size of the US in comparison to the UK.

But it is widely known that in the UK anyone who wants a gun, has very little trouble in obtaining one.
Zacs...you may find the following of interest. I am certainly not saying that racism has been cured in the States but the Civil Rights movement changed things massively.....they have a black President after all !

And yes, I see irony in you post of 13:20. I am just surprised he hasn't brought Muslims into this debate yet !

Still, its early days I suppose !
Pretty poor analogy then Mikey.

/// LOL to that Ratter ! ///

/// Never a day goes past that I am not eternally grateful that I am an
atheist ! ///

Strange that you do not react in your same 'atheist' manner when the Islamic faith comes under criticism.
For all those that think the US should abandon its gun laws.

Just how would you propose they get rid of the estimated 400 million guns in the US?

And as I have pointed out before, all very well sittingin your 2 up 2 down in Wales where plod are close at hand should some nefarious rat boy pop round, just how would you propose people in the middle of the US protect themselves?

Do they have Bear in Wales by the way? Guess you would strangle them with your own hands?
And there we go....AOG shoehorns Islam into the debate.

Oxford Concise Dictionary.

Definition of hate crime in English:
noun
A crime motivated by racial, sexual, or other prejudice, typically one involving violence:

So lots of possibilities then

well in Wales they apparently have the right to arm bears!
"Maybe more rare than in the USA, but then look at the size of the US in comparison to the UK."

See the facts here AOG :::

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate#List

Britain::::::::0.25 gun deaths per 100,000 people
USA:::::::::::10.64 gun deaths per 100,000 people

Its abundantly clear America has a far worse record for gun deaths than Britain. We have mad people as well as America, but the difference is that its difficult to get access to a gun here, whatever you say, but in the States its extremely easy.

Zacs-Master

/// Aaaah, the irony of AOG claiming something ISN'T racist. ///

No irony, I do it most of the time, when that word is banded about for no other reason than a person may hold a different opinion to others.

In this case it was reported that it was a 'HATE' crime.

End of story.
So AOG, is it possible that the 'hate' was directed at black people?
Zacs "poor" ? in what way exactly ?

The civil rights movement proved that that change could be made to people habits. All I am saying that if the majority of Americans that don't have guns, were to try a bit harder, than maybe something would change.
Zacs.....we didn't have to wait long it would seem.....12:21 OP....13:29 AOG brings up Muslims ! Perhaps this is a record !
-- answer removed --
Switzerland 0.23 Mickey but ranks 4th in the list of guns per capita

Rather wrecks your theory I'm afraid Mickey
Zacs "poor" ? in what way exactly ?

In the way that you claimed that people rising up against something was the way to solve it......and then admitted that it hadn't solved it.
13:17: If enough people rose up, got organised and formed an effective opposition, who knows what they could achieve ?

After all, that is how racism was dealt with in the 50's and 60's, by ordinary, decent people standing up and being counted.

13:27: I am certainly not saying that racism has been cured in the States
