Are there any religions in the world that promote/encourage/support equality for women?

Are there any countries in the world that promote/encourage/support equality for women?
Yes, Talbot. Most of the countries in the western world promote and encourage women.
I haven't experienced discrimination in the UK or Ireland.

Being female can work in your favour. Especially if you work in catering/corporate events
I'm not interested in religion, hc. So saying that the Zinga Bazinga wagon wheel worshipers have done it for years means nothing to me. These women live in the UK that gives them the right to drive. Anyone publishing material saying they are not should be dealt with by the real authorities.
With so many women in high powered jobs, being male can work in your favour, too.
Yes, Talbot. Most of the countries in the western world promote and encourage women.

Exactly.
True, hc...
Talbot, I have no problem with women following a religion of their choice, nor men for that matter. I will not tell people that their religion is wrong, or that they mustn't practice it.
And no problem with men telling women what they can and can't do?
Shocking really isn't it, Talbot? I just chuckled when I imagined Mr Ummmm telling what to do...

No problem at all, as long as it is not the state laying down these laws. Hasidic Jews have defected to a less orthodox church - it is their choice and there are Jewish organisations to help people do exactly that.

I would support to the hilt any woman (or man) that wishes to leave their particular religion but I won't force any one to.
I remember my local Miners Welfare being told that they either accept women as full members of the club or the club would have to be shut down.
there was a vote and the result was very close. It seemed Mr Stuckintheseventies would cut of his nose to spite his face.

Daft laws (requests, tradition) call it what you will should not be able to hide behind that old excuse called religion.
Women driving "contravenes traditional rules of modesty"?

The rules can't be all that traditional.

Did the ancient Jewish scriptures say ... "Thou shalt not permit thine wife to drive a motor car (if such a thing shalt ever be invented)"?
