She was spared only because someone from her home country of the Philippines came forward and admitted they recruited her as a drug mule.

Unsure how that changes things. If the sentence for the crime is death (which I disagree with as it happens) then someone admitting they recruited the individual doesn't change what they did. Did she give state evidence on a plea bargain or something ?

She was saved because a lady who she claimed planted drugs on here handed herself in.
