The hands on the reins of power in Nigeria have changed democratically. Can this be considered anything other than a very good thing?

Plus I also like some of the place-names in Africa e.g. the former name for Hwange in Zimbabwe.

Do I detect a disingenuous remark?
I think it's a Nigerian custom to give your children strange Christian names. The a guy on my allotment site called Hardwork.
There doesn't seem to be a get up and go attitude in Africa,they seem to be so laissez-faire.Instead of all of them rushing to get into the UKs benefits system why don't some of them try to change the whole African experience in their own countries?

When I said, 'remember them with fondness', I meant the names not the people. ☺
I realised that Sandy. Every time (which is not very often these days) I heard their names mentioned I had a little giggle to myself. My son's favourite was always Good Luck Johnathan and so when he got voted out I told him my two! You couldn't make them up could you.

I remember Sithole fled to the UK and sought asylum during the time after independence when Mugabe was using East German troops to secure his hold on power..
I think it was Joshua Nkomo who fled to UK in 1983 after Mugabe unleashed gukuruhindi on the Matabele. The infamous 5th brigade were trained by NTH Kore and slaughtered thousands in the Bulawayo area. He fled to Botswana dressed as a woman then on to UK.
