// The principle remains the same, after the war war comes the jaw jaw. //

Let's at least work through it the right order then. We can fire cruise missiles at Choudhary, and if that fails, fair enough - we should probably talk to him.

I hate this 'orrible little man, but as it was proper to invite the truly awful Nick Griffin on to "Question Time", then Choudary should be allowed to make a fool of himself at the Oxford Union. He is perfectly capable of hoisting himself with his own petard, and does so everytime I see him on the telly.

If he becomes a proscribed person in Britain, then we can reexamine his status.

It should be noted that while he is a 'orrble little man, he is also a very clever lawyer, and is always careful not to incriminate himself. But one day, he will overstep the mark and hope it will be in a public forum like the Oxford Union.
mikey, we live in hopes but he is a clever son of parents unwed.

Mikey,//If he becomes a proscribed person in Britain, then we can reexamine his status. //

What status? He was born here - he's British - and far from being simply an 'orrible little man', he's a very dangerous man who wields a great deal of influence.
"What status? He was born here - he's British"

trouble is that means nothing nowdays, he uses it as a badge of convenience
baz, it means we can't get rid of him.
Theresa May should close the mosques where it is proven that radiclisation is taking place. Arjem Chowdary and his fellow nutters has been flying close to the wind for ages, using his lawyer skills to defy the laws of the land.So let's change the laws. Do we really want to see the day the whole of the world will be governed by Sharia and the flag of Islam will fly over Big Ben, when justice prevails?

Naomi....I mean that if he comes under these new rules that Mrs May wants to introduce, he may not be allowed to participate in the future.

Unless he steps over that previously mentioned mark, as a British citizen, there mat be little that we can do about his participation in these kinds of debates.

If you remember, there was much discussion about Griffin being invited onto "Any Questions", in 2009. There was an argument to be made both ways on that issue. But not long after his appearance, he lost his seat at Brussels and subsequently was kicked out of the BNP altogether.

The BNP is now struggling to continue to exist, with plummeting membership and uncertain finances. I would like to think that Griffins appearance on the Beeb had a large part to pay in his personal decline, and the general decline of the Party. Give a man like him enough rope and he will hang himself.

But I agree...he is ghastly.
/Give a man like him enough rope and he will hang himself. //

If only - but it won't happen.
Perhaps we should be asking the Oxford Union why they choose to invite this odious man in the first place Naomi !

But his continuance is the price we pay for free speech I suppose.
Give them a ring. ;o)
Radical Islamist preacher Anjem Choudary says he is "proud" of one of Lee Rigby's killers, and declined to condemn the soldier's brutal murder. Choudary has been sitting on £25,000 of benefits a year. The ongoing question must still be how is it that this country ended up not just paying our enemies, but paying them better than we do our own soldiers.
Can he be actively seeking work? If he lives in London you'd think he, or the job centre, could find him something.
. . . and will he get paid by Oxford Union? Hope not.
sandyRoe, as I understand it he works part time as some sort of advisor - that way he can still claim his benefits.
Why would anyone want to stop Choudary speaking at the Oxford Union? Apparently the topic is the origin of Islamic "radicalism" and "extremism" in the UK. He will explain to a critical audience (did the DM article refer to "impressionable young undergraduates"? Oh deary, deary me!) that extremism so-called is NOT an aberration, but a literal and simple compliance with Islam's core texts. No "moderate" Muslim who appears on the same stage, spin as he may, will be able to contradict him. Look forward to seeing the whole debate on Youtube.
Actually, apart from all that, I have some respect for Choudary: he doesn't look me in the eye and pretend to be my friend; he makes no effort to dissemble his hatred and contempt for the society he is helping to subvert and off which he leeches. Far prefer an honest enemy to any member of CAGE or the Muslim Council of Britain that I've yet seen.
vetuste_ennemi...brave words ! This man has already said that he " he is "proud" of one of Lee Rigby's killers, and declined to condemn the soldier's brutal murder "

I understand your point but how on earth can you summon up even a scintilla of respect for a man who said this....live on Channel Four, if my memory serves me correctly ? Lee Rigby was an entirely innocent man and the people who killed him were murders. You are going to have to defend your "respect" on here !
Choudary has my "respect" only inasmuch as I don't regard him as a deceitful hypocrite, which is how I judge many of the self-appointed "representatives" of the "Muslim community". In every other regard I share totally your and most people's revulsion for the man, Mikey.
vetuste_ennemi....thanks for making that clear.
