It seems that we won't have to wait very long before this trial is complete, as the prosecution was making its closing speech today.

what's the rush?

This awful creature has been at large for far too long jno...the sooner he is put away the better. ( only after a Jury finds him guilty, of course ! )

He is a menace to young girls.
I don't know how long he's been at large - as I recall he's been in jail here and in Vietnam, but I haven't kept up.

I do recall he got off a similar charge before because it turned out his accuser had sold her story to the press (and stood to get more money if he was found guilty). I presume the prosecution haven't made that mistake again.

jno...I walked into the Cribbs Causeway branch of PC World about 5 minutes after Glitter was arrested when he went to pick up his PC after being repaired in November 1997. The was a buzz about the place and when I asked a member of staff what was going on, he told me that they had Glitter in earlier ( Glitter lived down the road at the time )

As the Store had just reopened after a refurbishment, I thought they had him there to re-open it...cutting the ribbon, etc. But no...he was taken away within minutes of his arrival !

This extract from his Wiki file is what you are referring to above ::

"He was also charged with having sex with an underage girl, Alison Brown, around 20 years earlier, when she was 14 years old. She had had a relationship with Glitter for some years. Glitter was acquitted of this charge. It was later revealed that Brown had sold her story to the News of the World and stood to earn more money from the newspaper should Glitter be convicted"
Mikey, when you say 'we', I'm not sure who 'we' is. Just an observation but you're the only person I've ever come across who appears to wait with bated breath for the outcome of trials that you are not personally involved in. Quite extraordinary!
I think mikey has explained why he takes a personal interest in Glitter.
Oh yes…. they went to the same shop.
nasty 'orrible little creep !

Naomi....are you suggesting that I am the only person on AB that hopes that Gary Glitter will be found guilty ? Extraordinary !

He is a convicted paedophile...of that there is no doubt whatsoever.

Defend Glitter if you think you are able to do so. I rest my case.

//nasty 'orrible little creep//

Murray!!!!!!!!
That's no way to talk about Mikey, he's not that bad!
;-)
Mikey, not at all. I know what he is so please don't deliberately misrepresent my posts. I simply don't understand why you become so very animated at the prospect of the impending outcome of trials/investigations. You were similarly impatient over the Oscar Pistorius trial.
It's up to the court and the jury to decide. I don't approve of trial by media or worse, trial by AB. If he's guilty, then the jury will decide. I agree, he's a creep but it's not my place to judge him publicly.
Question Author
I never pretend to be perfect Naomi ! Impatience is a fault, no doubt, but let those without sin cast the first stone !

I still hope that Glitter will be back behind bars soon. Little girls everywhere will be that bit safer when he is.
I think you'll get your wish.

Well, it doesn't look good for him, that's for sure. There can't be many people in Britain that are not aware of his past, so the Jury will have a devil of a job disregarding their previous knowledge, and not letting it affect their duty in the Jury Room. I guess that is always going to be a problem with high profile personalities and cases like Glitter.
//There can't be many people in Britain that are not aware of his past, so the Jury will have a devil of a job disregarding their previous knowledge//

That says less of British justice then than of Gad.

If I had my way then this trial would not be taking place as he would not be out.

youngmafbog - "If I had my way then this trial would not be taking place as he would not be out."

I take it from that post that you would wish that Mr Gadd had been incarcerated permanently for his previous crimes?

That is not how the law works, as I am sure you are aware.

Punishments are decided, and issued, under legal process, and as I have opined many times, the law does not act with emotion, which is why even the most abhorrent crimes such as child abuse have tariffs applied to them.

That same law does mean that if found guilty, Mr Gadd will be looking at some extended time in prison.
^ that's why he should have been hanged.
What will he get? smack on the wrist, be a good boy, & you can play in "Your Gang Your Gang"
Andy-hughes, I doubt youngmafbog needs a lesson on how the law works. As I read it his comment simply implies his support for harsher sentences.
