***, can never do links.
Nope, none.
I don't know how you go about unliking music that you used to like. Being too old to be a fan of either Glitter or Jackson, it's not something I've had to deal with. But I still like Chris Farlowe's stuff even after finding out he dealt in Nazi memorabilia. And I suppose if I were a Wagnerite I wouldn't be bothered by his beliefs either. You can be a fan of the music without being a fan of the man, I suspect.
Of course they are richer now.

Guilt got to one of them.

Evan Chandler committed suicide (via self-inflicted gunshot) on November 5, 2009, in his luxury apartment in Jersey City, New Jersey, five months after the death of Michael Jackson. He was 65 years old when he died.

But he soldiered on for long enough, justice or money. Tough call for some.
jno, of course but I just find I cringe when I hear it so it's no longer enjoyable. I understand why other people still listen to it though.
No.
ummmm - "Andy...I find it very hard to separate the music from the artist. I wouldn't willingly listen to Gary Glitter....or MJ."

We must agree to differ then.

I have never had any problem separating the art from the artist - as advised, I can't 'unlike' music, and I never think about the artist's life when reading, viewing, or hearing their art, it simply doesn't occur to me.

I would agree with Lemmy from Motorhead on this - he also is an avid memorabilia collector - collecting artefacts denotes an interest in the history of them - it does not equate with sympathy for the ideology involved.
I agree with andy-hughes. I don’t know how you go about ‘unliking’ music either. I think Michael Jackson was brilliant! Sympathy for Gary Glitter? None whatsoever.
I think Michael Jackson was brilliant!

His music or him?
Talbot - "I think Michael Jackson was brilliant!

His music or him?"

In my case - both - with caveats.

As a musician and performer, he is one of the very best ever, however as a human being, his dark side was very much an effect in his life, and death.
Have you still got your Jimmy Savile mug, andy?
Re Postdog's link - what on earth is that funny little man on about?

from the look of him, with his short height, and absence of teeth, and weighing about eight stone wringing wet, he does seem somewhat confrontational!

Looking at him, he'd be better 'offering out' a Diddy Man, or a timid five year old, rather than threatening total strangers who take issue with his brainless abuse of a celebrity.

Next time he asks if someone 'wants it', he might find himself in the Accident Unit having is pint glass removed under local anaesthetic!!
Caveats?
being a peadophile supersedes everything and goes to the top of their CV in my opinion.

Maybe you can't unlike but you can choose not to play it, it's a choice some will take others won't.
Talbot - "Have you still got your Jimmy Savile mug, andy?"

I'd forgotten all about that!

It may be lurking an a drawer somewhere in the office - it has never seen light of day since the revelations.

It's an interesting phenomenon - I do occasional party discos for friends, and I am doing one this weekend.

I shall be playing a selection of selection of MJ records, and expect people do dance and enjoy them, based on past experience.

I will not be playing any GG records - never tried since his conviction, but would not risk it - which is a shame, because his records are great - but I do feel that he carries a far greater stigma than MJ, which could extend to an ugly scene, and I would never want to upset anyone, however much I may enjoy his music.
Maybe it's a pity Glitter wasn't offered the chance to pay off his victims then there would be no problem playing his music alongside that of Jacksons.
I can't say I unlike music but as Talbot says, I chose not to listen to it.

I seen Michael Jackson on his 'bad' tour and he's was a fantastic performer but I can't get out of my head that's he was a child abuser. It takes the enjoyment away imo.

I was a victim of child abuse. That might be part of the reason I feel the way I do.
The BBC ( the guardian of our morals ) regularily plays MJ music .
So dont feel guilty listening to his music .

Personally i think that MJ was naive , rather than anything else .

I also don't see how one can unlike music.

Take for example Frank Sinatra - a lot of people like his music ( although i myself cant see why ) - anyway , suppose it now came to light that he was kiddy fiddler , would those people suddenly have a dislike of his songs ?
Btw
m not sure how the Wealdstone Raiders managed to get a mention on this thread, very unfair.
