/// Meanwhile one of Europe's largest Jewish associations has written a letter to EU ministers asking for gun laws to be relaxed to allow Jews to arm themselves to protect against terror attacks. ///

A bomb cannot evaluate a situation and only target a specific group. We are all at risk. The gun law should not be relaxed, I don't want Europe to become like the U.S,A
Since when have Jews done any harm in the UK? Apart from the ultra-orthodox I would be hard pressed to recognise a Jew by his appearance. Yes, they may keep themselves to themselves, but they are very approachable. Once an acquaintance told me that he was Jewish. I told him that I was a goy and my mother was a shiksa. He roared with laughter; no thought of jihad.
I was sceptical last week when it was announced there had been a big increase in anti-semitism in the UK. I am still doubtful.
You see newspaper reports of hate crimes against homosexuals or Asians, but I cannot recall any about jewish people being attacked. I decided to Google it for my area, and found one instance of a Jewish man being attacked, and that was by other Jews.

The idea of relaxing gun control so Jewish people can shoot people is not really appropriate for the UK.
all this media interest appeared soon after the attack in Paris on the Jewish supermarket. One swallow a summer doth not make.
I was quite surprised by Theresa Mays's comments. I would have thought it would have been more appropriate to have said that she never thought she's see that day when members of ANY community would be fearful of staying in the UK.
There has always been a campaign against the Jews in Britain. Whether it has got worse recently I am not sure of. My local cemetery, where both my parents are buried has a separate Jewish section, and this has a high wrought iron fence around, with massive wrought iron gates. I am guessing here but I don't think these massive security arrangements are there to keep stray dogs out.
mikey if there is currently a national campaign against Jews in the UK, it can't be a very effective one as I for one have heard nothing about it.
Any very prominent gay person or atheist would be in the firing line. I hope Stephen Fry is ever-watchful, for instance.
Not sure if I am missing something here, but why are the Jewish Community being targeted ?
Woofy....The former Chief Rabbi, Jonathan Sacks, was being interviewed on
the Today Program this morning, and he seemed to think that there has been a campaign for some time and that it has got worse recently.

Far be it for me to gainsay this chap, as he would appear to know more about this subject than I do !
Sammy...for being different I expect....that is normally the reason for racism in Britain.
There have been attacks on some in the Jewish community especially gravestones being wrecked in cemeteries and I think I read about trouble at some Synagogues.. There are certain areas, ( like Cheetham Hill in Manchester) where there is a large area of Jewish people and it's quite obvious because of their style of dress. It's the usual extremists that are causing the trouble but I don't feel they should be able to carry guns anymore than anyone else should.
I was told a story by a young police officer from London (a very genuine young man) that there are certain areas in the capital where black people cannot walk through a Jewish are without being reported to the police for allegedly trying to break into cars or houses. The police's time is wasted by these false reports just because the Jews don't want black people in 'their' areas. I think the last thing we want is for the Jews in these areas to be armed.
Seems like if you have the wrong hat and scarf on, you are a target nowdays. Very Sad.
From Barsel's link dated 17 October.
// Manchester for a rally against a surge in anti-Semitism, say organisers.
The event in Cathedral Gardens was set up following a recent spike in attacks on Jews following renewed violence in Israel and Gaza. //

I decided to look for this surge on Greater Manchester Police website. There was no mention of it, but there was this
//

Greater Manchester Police is running an operation with the Community Security Trust* (CST) to help ensure that the local Jewish community can enjoy the most religious period on its calendar.

The High Holy Days begin on Wednesday 24 September, and include the Eve of Rosh Hashanah and the Jewish New Year, Yom Kippur, before ending on Friday 17 October with the festival of Simchat Torah.

There will therefore be additional patrols before and after synagogue services to cover the main pedestrian routes that Jewish people use, and joint foot patrols by police and CST members will be run to deter anti-semitism.

CST’s Northern Regional Director Amanda Bomsztyk added: “At this time of year, CST, with backing from GMP, prioritises that the High Holy Day period will pass peacefully for all of Greater Manchester’s Jewish communities. The increased presence of police officers and CST volunteers offers invaluable reassurance and is integral to Jewish people being able to celebrate the New Year and other festivals. //

So during all these extra patrols, there was a huge increase in attacks?
If Theresa May never thought she would see the day when people were fearful of staying in the UK, then, she could allay those fears by voicing her concerns about the returning jihadists who appear to be ALLOWED to stay in the UK and do something positive about it instead of patronizing speeches to the Jewish community.
//Are Jews The Only Ones At Risk In Britain?//

No they're not - but they have always been the targets of nutcases.
I think it's understandable why the Jewish communities are feeling worried after the attacks in Paris and Belgium. We just have to hope that those terrorists attacks don't happen here in the UK and I agree with retrocop about stopping the jihadists being allowed to return and stay in this country.
