// Al-Qaeda is planning a Paris-style terrorist atrocity against Britain, according to the head of MI5.

They include plans to blow up a passenger jet; Mumbai-style shootings in crowded places; or even hit-and-run attacks using vehicles.

MI5 officers have increased surveillance of British fanatics who they fear may launch copycat attacks. Intelligence has shown that the Syrian arm of a resurgent al-Qaeda is planning similar outrages against the UK, possibly by British jihadists who have already returned from fighting in Syria or Iraq. //

And it TalkTalk and Plusnet's fault

// It is feared that a lack of cooperation from internet companies means that there is a risk of terrorists slipping through the net because MI5 cannot track them.
Mr Parker warned that terrorists may soon be able “to operate beyond our reach” as he renewed calls for enhanced access to digital communications. //

That Choudary piece was posted by someone on another thread Ed. As I said on that one, it's exactly what we'd expect from him.
Tacitly condoning the murders without actually saying the words. He's a lawyer and knows how to phrase things to be inflammatory without crossing a line of legality.
Asghar Bukhari was spoting his nonsense along with claims of racism on Sky News yesterday:

Yes, might have been better placed in News.
Maybe in the past citizens of some eastern states were mocked for thinking they were so important that the State would be interested in them. Surely it is a mistake to assume only beneficent authorities concerned with citizens' needs rather than their ability to control the power, will exist.
Some people in "eastern states" no doubt fell foul of the authorities much to their surprise, but that is because specific people were targeted, and that happens here too.
What is daft is the idea that all citizens are spied on electronically.
That doesn't even happen in countries where they'd like to do it as it is simply impossible to achieve.
If you have access to the Big Data all sorts of info can be extracted. It's the access to the data that's the danger.
"Does this "Freedom of Speech" extend to having the freedom to say and write certain words that at the moment we do not have the freedom to use?"

Do you mean on here AOG?

We have our own set of rules clearly outlined. As long as you don't break the rules, you can say what you like.

I didn't know that had already featured Ludwig. I just thought it was mad that a big paper published him.

This was Snowden's argument, but if you don't have access to the data how do you pinpoint the stuff you need?
Time to demolish every Mosque and ban every Muslim gathering as an illegal gathering, any foreigners coming into the country need to specify their religion and if they declare Islam, send them back home. and then we can start educating the upcoming generation of Ex Muslims about how barbaric and disgusting their religion really is. The Islamic faith is an insult to mankind. I don't give a flying *** about the "silent majority" they are irrelevant!! If they don't want speak out they can suck it up and get on with their lives!! Religion of peace my ***!!
Was that satire Ratter?
Ummm, yes thats it Ed satire!!
Theres nothing new from Al Qaeda here. They have had that sentiment against the UK for years. This is simply a case of stirring up the pot in the wake of what happened in France.

No Ed, I did not mean on here, and agree that we all sick to this site's rules.

I was just referring to all this talk about free speech does this only apply to remarks made against religion or can we now feel free to make use of words that have over recent years been removed from the English language.

"Paris style atrocity coming our way" We all know that - that`s why the UK terror threat (and aviation threat ) is set at Severe. No surprise there.

Sorry AOG, paranoia on my part!

I'm pretty sure you can use whatever words you like - but what people think of you for using those words might be quite a bit different to if you had used them 40 years ago.

Having witnessed the actions taken by the French over this, their special forces their vehicles and armaments, and how soon they apparently traced the suspects, got me to wonder have we such resources to respond to such a situation that the French are facing at the moment?
