kylesmum, not much point me saying anything then.

**** leave.
Yes this was an horrendous accident. I cannot help but wonder why the driver was alone in the cab, there is usually 2 or 3 people in a bin wagon.
He wasn't alone. There was two other people in the vehicle.
//But I am not sure why it is being linked to the helicopter accident this time last year. There is no connection whatsoever.///

mikey:
it resulted in tragic deaths.
it happened at a similar time of the year.
it happened in the same city.
it happened in the same shopping square.

Do you now see the connection ?
Cheers ummmm I understood he was alone.
was going into town yesterday and changed our minds as it was so busy and I would'n t have been able to move in my scooter so we went to the supermarket instead and got caught up in a traffic jam from over an hour, glad we changed our minds...
meant to say I have had a lot of phone calls to make sure I'm safe, very kind of them to think of me.
anneasquith...I am all for showing respect but the money wasted on huge piles of flowers would be better spent at this time of year, by giving the money to the Salvation Army, or similar, who are helping the needy of our society, rather than making florists wealthy.

I recall the mass hysteria when Diana died and the millions of pounds wasted on tons of flowers being left outside the Palace gates.
How insensitive can you get mikey4444?

People leave flowers as a mark of respect not because it's effective.
Florists employ people, Mikey.
I'm not sure that there is any 'correct' way for strangers to display their condolences, or to pay their respects to the dead, Mickey; and whilst it's not necessarily the way I would do it, I don't begrudge those who do.
People can spend their money on whatever they like, mikey
I'm not sure how you can possibly think you can have a say in it.
Mikey is not criticising the respect of laying flowers merely the fact the money if donated as he says to Salvation Army could be used more appropriately,in a similar way people ask for charity donations instead of flowers at a funeral!
Thanks vakayu...at least someone understands the meaning of my post !
;0) know where you are coming from mikey!
Others understand it but don't necessarily agree with it.
mikey, next time someone is killed in an accident near you go and say the same to anyone who lays flowers at the scene afterwards.
I think people leave flowers because they feel they have to do something. In the 'old days' a prayer in church would suffice. I agree the money would be better spent elsewhere - the families of the bereaved could use it for sure but each to their own, I guess.
I understand your point, Mikey. Many of the people laying flowers might all ready donate to charity.

It's also a comfort for those grieving to see they are peoples thoughts.
Heard the news when I was on my way to Glasgow yesterday to see Andre Rieu at the SEC Hydro. Tragic event, my thoughts are with all concerned.
