I am far from being a Russell Brand fan. He is a terrible scruffbag and I wish he do would his shirt up, get a hair cut and have a shave. But he described Farage last night, on Question Time, as a "Pound Shop Enoch Powell"

Short, sharp and to the point ....Well done Russell !

My criticism of Farage is nothing to do with him being right wing. There's nothing wrong with that per se. I don't even have a problem with him believing that the country is overcrowded etc or that the EU is not good for Britain. I happen to disagree strongly but that is beside the point. The problem with him for me is that he expresses his views in divisive and...

/// You left off one thing AOG....

one could walk down the road and still know you were in your own country and not some african, asian, or middle eastern place...... ///

Yes but then I would have been called "Racist" and you know how that word terrifies me don't you Baz?
I'm unsure how some come to the conclusion that Britain is not overcrowded. We have issues supplying necessary services (such as dentists for example) we have issues finding enough housing and it results in governments pushing for urban sprawl, not to mention smaller housing as folk are packed in, we have issues finding folk jobs resulting in large amounts of welfare spending, and so on. Surely it's been clear for ages our population figures are already over the top and getting worse daily ?

Yes and it infuriates me when they constantly go on that it is the fact that the elderly are living longer that is having such a detrimental strain on the NHS.

Never a mention of the hordes of immigrants who have never paid a penny in N I contributions, but who are now crowding our Hospitals, our A & E clinics, our drop in centres and our doctor's surgeries.
Always ship a few out to Rhum, Eigg and a few other isolated islands in the Hebrides, Orkneys and Shetlands, plenty of room out there amongst the Auks, terns and puffins.
A good summing up of last night's Question Time, for those who are interested.

Blow Downton Abbey, Eastends etc, this type of thing should be turned into a regular series.

I wouldn't be too worried about being labelled a "Rascist". You are in very distinguished company. That drug addled so called clown and his admirer on AB who currently has morphed into a Cornish Pisky both claim that Brigadier John Enoch Powell OBE and Nigel Farage are rascist. Enoch Powell, who served his country with distinction , had more intelligence than any so called politician today in the major parties. His foresight that there would be rivers of blood was not a rascist rant. It came true in the last few years in this country. Greenich, 7/7,the London Tube and bus bombings, threats to kidnap and decapitate police officers. Who were the perpetrators of these horrific crimes ? as if we do not know. I had better not spell it out because it is so easy for our lefty friends to stick their heads up their a*** and deny the facts and declare me a rascist. I am no more rascist than Nigel Farage with whom I was branded a rascist for supporting his views by one of his own so called benefactor and supporter on AB.

do you have any facts to back that up aog?

I was in an NHS Outpatients clinic yesterday with approx 50 people.

As far as one can tell ie how people speak, their names or how they respond when called

Two at most sounded as though they were from overseas.

However, approx 75% were over 65

and approx 25% over 75

and before anyone trots out the 'yes but they have contributed all their lives'

how would you know?

the layabouts of the 1960s are now in their 70s and above
I regularly attend St Helier, Epsom General and Royal Marsden hospitals as an out patient. I can assure you Zeuhl that over 50% on the waiting list in X-ray,pathology, etc are of dark skin . Before you deem me racist and say,"Ah but they were most likely born here" then I suggest that a lot of them should not need to be introduced to their Urdu, Parsi, Hindi,Somali, Polish interpreter provided at cost to the NHS prior to their appointment.

fair enough - your anecdotal evidence is just as valid as mine

but it sounds like you live in Wallington, Carshalton or somewhere on the south London borders

London is a 'World City' and (like several other urban areas) not representative of most of England. When I lived in London I rather liked that.

If you don't like it, I recommend Sussex :-)
You are spot on as to the geography. I would love to move to Sussex. My parents lived in Peacehaven for many years. My wife, however, works as a nurse in a local hospital and is in a specialised field. She could also tell you of her horrendous waiting lists and how she even has to act as an unpaid interpreter(Fluent Spanish) in many of the out patient clinics. She is British born and bred by the way.

Not sure why you have decided to make a personal attack on me. Why don't you try to debate the issue, without attacking people ?

Your comments on the the "dark skin" aspect of your Hospital experience is ludicrous. Have you not noticed what colour the people behind the face masks are these days, when you pay what seem to be regular visits to Hospital ? Without these "dark faces" as you put it, the NHS would have ground to a halt long before now.

So I presume you don't mind having your medical care administered by a "dark face" as long as there aren't any sitting next to you in the Waiting Room.

Enjoy your 'interesting' surroundings while you can

One day ---- you'll be back to the seaside I'm sure

Funnily enough if I ever take a sentimental journey through Carshalton Beeches now (we left in 96) it isn't the contrasting exotic ethnicity i notice, it is the busyness and building density compared with where we are now.

Your time will come. Tell the missus to find a nice job at St Richards Chichester or Worthing or Eastbourne :-)
Not an attack on you mikey,
"Short,, sharp and to the point.....Well done Russell ! That looks like words of admiration to me errr from an admirer. Hardly a personal attack. There are plenty of young English speaking ladies and gentleman from this country who would make very capable and caring nurses. There is one huge stumbling block.Lack of education to obtain what amounts to a degree to become a nurse. My wife and her friends who she trained with back in the 70's did not require a degree to become SRN's. They were trained to a high standard over 3 years at nursing school in every aspect of ward work including cleaning floors and sluice rooms etc. All the dirty jobs that most new nurses wouldn't touch today. If any patient developed bed sores there would be a matron's enquiry etc. Now it is part and parcel od going to hospital for any length of time. We would not need so many imported nurses if the NHS wasn't almost overwhelmed with too many patients and too few beds. The infrastructure is not coping with the excessive open door immigration policy. We don't need foreign nurses. We could supply our own English speaking nurses from home given the training. There are many foreign nurses here who are agency nurse and commanding fees above and beyond what a NHS nurse could dream of.
The dark faces behind the masks, mikey, were probably trained in the UK,speak English and contribute benefits to this country. The dark faces in the waiting room, as likely as not, do not speak English and have not contributed anything and take from our benefit system..
The reason we don't have enough housing is because successive governments have refused to address the issue of building new homes, something that predates 'unlimited' immigration.
We have always fetishised high house prices. The housing market has for too been skewed to favour those already owning their own homes and successive attempts to encourage new buyers, when there still aren't enough affordable houses, only make it worse.
//London is a 'World City' and (like several other urban areas) not representative of most of England.//

Paris is also a "world city". there, however, if you are unable to conduct business in the official state language (French), that would be your problem.

since the UK authorities will apparently bend over backwards to accommodate every lingual variant, are they not themselves creating division in the UK's own "world city" by encouraging disparate groups not to communicate with each other?
-- answer removed --
Exactly what I said divebuddy but that does not fit into the loony lefts agenda which wishes to drag this country and the infrastructure down and embraces such diversity to our cost by it's open door policy. We don't have enough homes. Just build some more that will be immediately occupied and still a need for more housing. Oh. I forgot. All these extra people need water to drink but we have built on reservoirs and we can't build more water can we? More electricity required for more people. We can hardly generate enough now for the needs of our crowded little Island.
You'd think a major country like us would be able to pay our nurses a decent wage to encourage more of our home grown talent (of whatever hue) into the profession.
