Always a moot point the subject of 'reasonable force'. Too many cooks it seems and amidst all the mayhem a death occurs. 'Misadventure' would appear to be the likeliest outcome...
"As for the poor baby he has left behind, as well as other family and friends - they don't deserve their pain and sorrow either. "
Im sure he put a lot of thought into the possible consequences on all those who could be affected by his actions before he decided to go out armed with a sledgehammer....
and on this post ,we yet again see the bleeding heart liberals that are at the heart of a lot of this countrys problems...bless 'em
It's a curious one... I mean, it's not as if they were restraining an octopus.
On the face of it, it appears excessive but it's not that simple. Had his mission succeeded, the damage to human life could have been far worse if he panicked and completely lost the plot....
Presumably restraining him in a manner such that he was captured but also not in danger of dying. I don't think that anyone is expressing all that much sympathy for this man, but there is certainly some for his family. A citizen's arrest shouldn't end with the death of the captured person and that's not a "bleeding heart liberal" position but should be what everyone agrees with in civilised society. There is such a thing as due process, for example.
he was an armed robber, deserved to be caught and sent to prison no doubt............it maybe worth adding he had a motor cyclist helmet on, suffocation,? don't think he deserved that.
Thankfully we have 8 public-spirited individuals who didn't set out to hurt anyone or commit crime that morning, they just did the decent thing when an armed robbery was in place.
I wonder what the mindset was of the armed robber that morning? Was he thinking of his young family? Did he stop to contemplate what sort of impact his actions might have on his victims?
We'll never know and yes it's regrettable but my thoughts are with the 8 bystanders who rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in when they really didn't have to.
I can accept that up to a point because yes the death of an innocent bystander is far worse, but the concept of people "deserving to die" seems to me to set a dangerous precedent, especially if others act on that and/ or praise those who brought about said death.
Nothing about this sorry episode is worth much celebration or cheer. Primarily of course this guy shouldn't have been trying to rob the store in the first place. Then he should really have been restrained in a manner that didn't kill him. Now his family has forever lost their father; the store owners and even those in the public who restrained him will probably never forget that fateful day; and frankly the entire experience is just saddening.
