The first female Muslim Cabinet member resigns over daves Gaza policy. Brave woman as far as I am concerned. Lets hope more people protest and this government starts to pull its finger out over the Israeli policy of killing 1000's of innocent Gaza citizens.

Netanyahu has long passed the point of avenging the deaths of the three Israeli schoolboys. Enough already.

// And where is the voice in Gaza of opposition to Hamas? // Hamas fairly won free elections in Gaza but Israel did not recognise the fact. Fatah won the elections in the West Bank and Israel recognised that Government. So the Palestinians became 2 States, one in Gaza supporting Hamas, one in the West Bank supporting Fatah. That suited the israelis, the...

" It is Hamas alone that can put an end to this."

I'm sorry but this is just guff. You can't fire guided missiles at a school and kill all the children inside and then say "oooh you made me do it." You always have a choice not to do that right up until the missile is fired.
"Krom, on which side?"

Sorry, I don't understand the question.
//You always have a choice not to do that right up until the missile is fired. //

And that choice is one available to both sides, no?
Yes, it is available to both sides.
Exactly.
sorry, you're going to have to explain this to me. I don't understand what you're trying to say.
As scooping said earlier. If Israel did not possess the Iron Dome then the randomly fired, unguided rockets could easily fall on Israeli hospitals and schools. Is there a warped logic here that says it should be allowed to happen by Israel just to level the playing field. If Hamas enjoy electoral support then I would suggest that the Palestinians withdraw that support because no other Arab country seem to support Hamas. It is Hamas that is causing a whole world of pain in Gaza.
I'm trying to say that Hamas has a choice. It can choose to cease its bombardment which will result in Israel ceasing its bombardment.
^That was to Krom.
Hamas is certainly responsible for every rocket they fire into Israel. I don't, however, accept the argument that they are therefore responsible for every rocket that gets fired back. The only people responsible for that are Israeli. Nobody is "forcing" them to bomb schools.
I wonder if the question 'why should Hamas be first' is brewing?
It is not difficult to understand.Hamas also have the choice either to fire a rocket into Israel or not. They must be pretty bloody murderous to their own people knowing that Israel will retaliate in spades.Choose not to fire thousands of rockets into Israel and NO retaliation. There that wasn't too difficult to comprehend surely.
It's a different lot of god fearing souls who turn the other cheek, Kromovaracun.
Krom, No, no one is forcing the Israelis to bomb schools - and I certainly don't support the bombing of schools - in fact, morally, I support the Palestinian cause. As I said, they have been treated appallingly. I am, however, trying to view this rationally and it seems to me that if Hamas stopped its bombardment, Israel would do likewise. There's no sense in any of it.
Schools and hospitals are targeted because Hamas use them as missile/rocket launch pads.Cynically using innocent people as human shields. The IDF send warnings where they will target next.If Hamas dug more air raid shelters for their electorate instead of tunnels and stopped their terrorist actions then the casualty list would diminish.Hamas don't care about casualties.Life is so obviously cheap to them and people make good propaganda for their cause.
retrocop:

yes, I understand the argument, I just don't find it convincing. I know that Israel would not be murdering children without those first rocket attacks from Hamas. But it seems to me that the people who fire rockets at schools and hospitals are the people who are inescapably responsible for their destruction.

i.e. I don't think "you started it" is a valid argument that justifies child murder.
Krom, you're right - there is no justification for child murder - but neither Hamas, nor the Israelis, seem to agree. I can only conclude that they're all quite mad.
Well tell that to Hamas. They are inflicting all the misery, ultimately,in Gaza not me nor, in my opinion, the Israeli's who most people want to see,it seems on AB,as a Hamas punch bag with no right to defend itself.
And where is the voice in Gaza of opposition to Hamas? No-one dare speak for fear of reprisals.
// How's about condemning the 3,000 missiles lobbed at Israel in a totally undiscriminating way. //

Not condoning any missile attacks, but your numbers need analysis.

2014 before Gaza was attacked - 136 missiles launched from Gaza
2014 after Gaza was attacked -2,900 missiles launched from Gaza

If the idea of invading Gaza was to reduce missile attacks, it seems to have been self defeating.

Iron Dome has a 90+% chance of incepting missiles that populated towns. It lets through ones that will fall harmlessly.

Hamas missile are undiscriminating to the extent that they are unguided, which means that the majority miss their targets. Their main function is to terrorise the civilian pipulation rather than kill many.
