it is still a jewish store so why is a muslim working there in the first place.
Suit yourself.
That's Tesco's fault. They should make it clear to their staff that they do THIS or they don't hold that position.

It's not as if the meat wasn't prepackaged, or the wine open - no need for the cashier to touch it.
My point, Lady J.

No offence meant seajaypea....actually Cohen founded it out of the first three initials of his tea suppliers T(Torring), E and Stockwell...plus the Co bit.
Jewish stores do employ non-Jews.
Well one worker in one store has caused a fair uproar hasn't he?

What about the thousands of others who do their job quietly and politely each day.
Yes, but if you object to ham and wine because you are Muslim you shouldn't be there, inky.

However, if we are being strict and kosher Tescos shouldn't be selling ham, should they - and probably 98% of the wine and store contents are not kosher ....but there's money involved.
None taken, DTC.

But it's not been a Jewish store for years, if it ever really was. If it were, do you think it'd sell pork products?

Tesco is now a publicly-quoted company, one of the FTSE-100. It's owned by our pension funds and other financial institutions. Saying it's a Jewish company because one of its founders was Jewish is as daft as suggesting that Marks and Spencer or Mothercare are Jewish because some of their founders were.

That said, the store needs a bit of a talking-to in this case. The person (man or woman, the article says both?) who refused to serve may be entitled to do so by their terms of employment - who knows? But they should have been moved away from a customer-facing position for the period. That's just good management.
boycott muslim cashiers - problem solved ;)
How would you tell, tamborine?
I know seajay - just being pedantic.....if I was to apply the same logic, then Muslims should boycott M&S and Shell.
I saw a guy stacking shelves at Tesco complaining because the top shelf was broken, and he couldn't keep it up.

I think he had a wrecked aisle dysfunction

I'll get my coat...
Tambo, I really do despair at times lol.
well if you cant tell just say haraam & if they smile.....walk off
I have tears of laughter running down my cheeks, if only this ONE (yes one, uno, single, solitary) chap in Neasden could read this, he would be loving it.
In their best Lahore accent, "Ha - Raam is not my name, it's Mohammed."
Cough mixture is in the third aisle Madam, chortle.
greeting ramadan is mubarak, sorry
Oh don't be sorry best laugh I've had in weeks.
